Does psyllium husk (Metamucil) hurt nutrient absorption? What about proper digestion of oral medications?

I’ll be 41 this year and I know my internal plumbing isn’t as good as it used to be. I want to take psyllium husk but I’m concerned it hurts your absorption of nutrients or any blood pressure or cholesterol medication you might be taking?

Should we be using psyllium husk at all and how can we be sure it won’t block my intake of my fluoxetine medication if I take it close to the time i take both.
 
I take the sugar free Kirkland version of Metamucil religiously for the last 15 years. I don’t have the answers to your question but it’s an absolute must for me. It’s also funny I probably have turned on close to 100 guys over the years and I’ve never had so many people come back to me with glowing thanks 😂

I would not take it near any meds or supplements. When I used to take it I'd take bp meds around 6am and the Metamucil around 9am. I think it even has on the body to not take around the time you take any meds or supplements. I would also think it would/could interfere with some nutrient absorption so I actually usually took it 90 minutes away from meals.

It will effect absorption take it away from all your medications
 
Pretty sure it says on the container of Metamucil to not take any medication within a 2 hour window of ingestion. With that said, I love Metamucil. Probably my top favorite supplement.
 
Fiber by it's nature can absorb things. Doesn't have to be psyllium. I eat a wide range of soluble and insoluble fiber in my diets daily as they are both needed for health. And have for decades. Can't say i have noticed and adverse effects from malabsorption.
 
I saw a video showing Chris bumstead taking it with meals stating it helps with digestion

I use 2 or 3 capsules almost daily for health reasons and it can be a game changer if you have IBS

How much and how often are you using it? I’ve got a couple of those big Kirkland Jars in the cupboard but only use them when carbs are low. I should probably start using it daily though since I really don’t get enough fiber in my diet.

I have to take it religiously every nights. My kids joke if it was my Metamucil or my wife that I would sure miss her 😂

I don't see why it'd be any different than eating broccoli, beans, or a fiber one brownie.
 
I use beta glucan, check it out. And yes it also will interfere with absorption.

There isn't actual shit for fiber in those is there? They just used their name to make it sound like it's healthy...
Says so on the ingredients and from experience of using them for years, if too many are eaten poo poo runs happens .

Have yet to try lemon ones. Will be on the lookout.
