Eating your oatmeal raw....everyone should

Mega Mass 3000, ftw!
Weight Gain 4000 is clearly superior.

I drink my oatmeal. I put 1 cup oats in a normal size drinking glass. Mix just enough water to be able to stir a spoon with it. Microwave 50 seconds. Take out and immediately stir and add a small amount of cold water. You should end up with the perfect consistency to drink it back in about 4 big gulps. Peice of cake.

I like your ideas Vanilla and I agree. I love raw oats in my shakes, but every once in a while when I blend the oats together with my shake in the blender I will get bloated from it, but not all the time. So I suggest not to blend the oats for too long.

The way around this for me was to blend the protein powder with water or milk, your choice, and some natty peanut butter. Then once thats all blended I pour it into a cup and then add in the raw oats and shake it up in the shaker cup and let it sit for a minute or two. This will let the oats soak a little bit and I never get thet bloat issues doing it this way ever. I may have to swirl the shake a little bit to get the oats mixed once again but thats not a big deal.

Soak your oats 12 hours overnight in warm water, it will be fermented which will improves digestibility greatly. What happens overnight as they soak ? the starches break down which improves digestibility and their natural phytic acid will be reduced that makes them more easily absorbed by your body. The soaking acts like a long cooking, which you won’t get from just heating them in the microwave or on the stove.

Emeric.

Even if I do this I get terrible gas. Is this a sign of something else that’s off or just simply I don’t digest them well.

Once upon a time I was fine but the specialist believes I have developed slow gastric transit from competing.

No thanks I don't feel like pissing through my ass

I'll stick with fully cooked steel cut :headbang:

THIS

Thats exactly what I used to do when making shakes with oats. Water doesn't even have to be warm just let em soak till its shake time than throw some more back in some water to soak for the next one. It blends easier and digests better this way.

after switching to cream of rice I will never go back to oatmeal in terms of digestibility.

This is my go to how. 0 digestion issues it’s perfect

I assume cream of rice is not as healthy as oats though is it?

It's not as the GI is quite high. Some of us discussed this in the cream of rice thread. One member pointed out it is high in iron, so pounding large quantities isn't ideal. I'd personally rather eat it as well. Oats are just a go to clean bodybuilding carb because of its density and versatility. No one's putting pasta or potatoes in shakes.

13 years later.

Why start a new thread on a topic that's been discussed? Forums would be a lot better if more people read and researched beforehand instead of assuming they're the first person to ever have such a thought on a topic.

Try to ed 1/2 tea spoon of Apple cider vinegar to the oat and soak it for 12 hours, it will speed up fermentation.

Bro you have to be from the ol' skool with that question. Back in the days, some of Weider crap tasted just like mulch and cow sh##, but if we thought it would put on mass, we ate.

My MLO (brand) protein from back in the last 80s was like putting chalk in a blender (and tasted like it too)

Why assume that? What makes a healthy food is too subjective. oats have more fiber, higher protein, more fat, but also causes digestion issues for some. Cream of rice will digest better for a larger percentage of people but will have less "nutritional density" compared to oats.

Will choosing one over the other make you more healthy or give you better results (other than choosing one for digestibility reasons)? No

I prefer the taste/texture of a bowl of oatmeal over cream of rice, but feel so much better eating cream of rice so that's what I go with.

Had to double check this post wasn't from 2005 lol

I assumed that because I’ve heard oats being raved about as a superfood for years for its effects on cholesterol etc but I have never heard rice or cream of rice talked about in the same way before.

Most of the oatmeal sold in stores is grown in the USA. Can’t say the same for rice.

Great POST VG and advice.
I eat me oatmeal raw all da damn time sometimes ..nobody *gag* now, my third post WO meal will sometimes be pasturerized egg whites and raw oat meal spooned and eaten like a ceral and then washed down with some more protein in liquid form if I feel the need for it.

Wow reminds me how much my powo meals have evolved in 13 years.

Powdered muscle with CM/glycerol before during wo..tons of water a little baking soda and glycerol while cooling down
Past egg whites/A2 milk
Lenny and Larry protein cookie

I don't do protein shakes anymore or in a very long time cause there is no need.

But it is time for oatmeal again since it's cooling off, I add some benefiber as well as glycine and collagen hydrolysate. Good for joints and gut.
Sweetened with splenda or log capin sugar free maple syrup and cinnamon on top.
