I like your ideas Vanilla and I agree. I love raw oats in my shakes, but every once in a while when I blend the oats together with my shake in the blender I will get bloated from it, but not all the time. So I suggest not to blend the oats for too long.
The way around this for me was to blend the protein powder with water or milk, your choice, and some natty peanut butter. Then once thats all blended I pour it into a cup and then add in the raw oats and shake it up in the shaker cup and let it sit for a minute or two. This will let the oats soak a little bit and I never get thet bloat issues doing it this way ever. I may have to swirl the shake a little bit to get the oats mixed once again but thats not a big deal.
Soak your oats 12 hours overnight in warm water, it will be fermented which will improves digestibility greatly. What happens overnight as they soak ? the starches break down which improves digestibility and their natural phytic acid will be reduced that makes them more easily absorbed by your body. The soaking acts like a long cooking, which you won’t get from just heating them in the microwave or on the stove.

after switching to cream of rice I will never go back to oatmeal in terms of digestibility.

I assume cream of rice is not as healthy as oats though is it?

Emeric.
Even if I do this I get terrible gas. Is this a sign of something else that’s off or just simply I don’t digest them well.
Once upon a time I was fine but the specialist believes I have developed slow gastric transit from competing.

Bro you have to be from the ol' skool with that question. Back in the days, some of Weider crap tasted just like mulch and cow sh##, but if we thought it would put on mass, we ate.

Why assume that? What makes a healthy food is too subjective. oats have more fiber, higher protein, more fat, but also causes digestion issues for some. Cream of rice will digest better for a larger percentage of people but will have less "nutritional density" compared to oats.
Will choosing one over the other make you more healthy or give you better results (other than choosing one for digestibility reasons)? No
I prefer the taste/texture of a bowl of oatmeal over cream of rice, but feel so much better eating cream of rice so that's what I go with.
Had to double check this post wasn't from 2005 lol
I assumed that because I’ve heard oats being raved about as a superfood for years for its effects on cholesterol etc but I have never heard rice or cream of rice talked about in the same way before.
Great POST VG and advice.
I eat me oatmeal raw all da damn time sometimes ..nobody *gag* now, my third post WO meal will sometimes be pasturerized egg whites and raw oat meal spooned and eaten like a ceral and then washed down with some more protein in liquid form if I feel the need for it.
