How many of you own a dog, or dogs?
How often do you walk that dog? Not to
lay a guilt trip on anybody, but just like
humans, dogs require regular exercise
for optimal physical health and function.
Why all the pet care discussion? Stay with
me. Most bodybuilders look forward to
cardio the way they do dental work and are
proficient at skipping it or finding excuses
not to do it. I get it. Cardio is boring as
hell on a machine at the gym. I got a pit/
Lab mix a few years ago that we named
Branch, and I walk him for 30-40 minutes
every morning and afternoon. As such, I
don't need to do much cardio in the gym
at all anymore. Granted, plodding along
at a turtle's pace wont give you the same
calorie-burning results as a fast walk, so l
encourage you all to take a fast walk or two
every day whether you have a dog or not.
Maybe there are nearby errands like the
post office or bank you can use to get those
walks in, or maybe there is a scenic park
or recreation area you could drive to. If you
truly abhor machine cardio, get out there in
the fresh air and burn some calories.
