Problem with aspirin is with some people, it can cause internal bleeding. If you are doing everything right it is unnecessary. With the newer cholesterol test called vpt(has fractional components of cholesterol), Lpa component is affected positively by aspirin. Lpa is the so-called "heart attack cholesterol". If your Lpa is still high after doing all you can, it is a good idea to take ASA. On a side note, the niaspan will help this a little, but regular niacin works better to lower this component, and raises HDL(good cholesterol).
