Then why so many questions? Try it and see. You don't need 20g per IU but 10 to 15 is plausible depending on goals. Use 5 or use 10...just decide and do it. Humalog is more powerful per IU, so I'd normally tell people 10 to 15 of humulin or 5 to 10 humalog.

True. I was trying to give him a safer start. I work up to 13ius x2 R and 300 carbs. Although I know I can go lower in my carbs and get away with it on most days there are days that catch me off guard.

With intravenous use, the pharmacologic effect of Humulin R U-100 begins at approximately 10 to 15 minutes and terminates at a median time of approximately 4 hours (range: 2 to 6 hours) after administration of doses in the range of 0.1 to 0.2 units/kg. The time course of action of any insulin may vary considerably in different individuals or at different times in the same individual.

So like I said peaks in about 2 to 4 hr. Not that I have read that already. Its in every dam box of r u purchase. using r for a long time. Done with this debate. Crazy.
