I have shoulder problems so pressing on a bench is a no no for me. I want to get my tris to come up but i cant do any close grip with barbell. So i stared using db on floor. Absolutely no pain in shoulders but i feel the tension more on my chest then tris. everyone else i ask says they feel it in tris more. wth am i doing wrong??:banghead:

I love DB floor press for chest, I don't feel it much in my triceps either.

IIRC, to hit triceps, Phil Hernon recommended doing DB floor press with your elbows basically starting at your sides, those never felt right on my shoulders tho :/

maybe consider pre-fatiguing your triceps with something else before doing DB floor press?

I can't do close grip barbell press either due to it being uncomfortable for my shoulders but my favourite tricep exercise is decline close grip bench.

All the tension on tris and no shoulder pain.

Also I don't press all the way down as tension on tris is lost and don't lock out completely for the same reason.

Try it, thumbless grip.

Same concept but hex presses. Basically with dbs touching at all times.

Yes id try doing floor hex press, you should feel it more in your tris

awesome suggestion cant wait to try hex presses and close grip bench on decline

Here's another great training exercise to use to hit tri's. I tried this out last week and couldn't make it thru the entire 200 reps, but I gave it my best shot. I petered out after 150 reps. I'll eventually get there:

Can you do tri-cep dips?

yes i can

I would really focus on them then. Add progressive weight if you can and I am sure your tri-cep will grow. I also like to warm up slowly using very light weights. One of my favs is cable extensions without an attachment.

What about Tate presses and JM presses? Both are great for triceps

think most times your going to feel it more in your chest. I would pick another exercise(s) to target your tri's,,,perhaps skull crushers while lying on the floor.

I am working out on the floor, in an apartment, this year. So, I have found that skull crushers work well. I lay on the carpet and my elbows are back, maybe over the top of my head.

After that, I do a one arm db extension. I am also laying down when I do this. I lower the db to the carpet on the opposite side of my neck, so my arm is crossong over the front of my neck.

Love hex presses but don't feel much in my tris, triceps dips and reverse grip barbell skull crushers work great.

Smith machine JM Press on different angles and Dips, have worked well for me

im gonna try close grip declines and floor skulls
