People at the gym who walk around shoeless (wearing only a pair of socks)—tracking urine on the gym floor. 🤮

You´ve been here two weeks and you´re already insulting people? Keep the shitty attitude in check, it makes you look like a female genitalia in a certain troll´s clothing.
Calling me a name in disguise after telling me to not name call. hmmmmmm

You can't even wear the same sneakers you walked in on at my gym. Everyone must change to sneakers they just wear in gym. The lockers room and bathrooms are also separate.

Isn't this normal? In every single gym I have been in Germany, it was part of the "dress code" to use clean gym-only shoes inside the gym space, and not walk around with the street shoes. And place a towel under the bench when you are using it.

Is this a commercial gym? If it is, I'm surprised they would let people walk around like that, due to it being a liability in that setting.
If it’s a commercial gym, no liability held for what a member does inside the gym. Members release liability, located in fine print, once they “sign” up.

Never seen a requirement for shoes or laying towels down in any gym in USA thankfully

Man I got like 30 shoes I only wear to the gym.....I wear them to and in the gym. They got spray you can clean off the bench which I try to do after I use it. I don't get why all the gym shoes only as long as someone isn't tracking mud with boots all over the place. Its not like I change shoes when I get in any other public place.

I never understood the whole squat and deadlift barefoot thing anyways? 🤷🏿🤷🏿🤷🏿🤷🏿

Its n
Bumstead just posted a video doing pulldowns and rows in his socks. Someone from this thread should tell him how disgusting the is and throw him out of the gym.
TRaining in socks is a little weird but stepping on piss in socks is another level😂

I said it kind of joking. Idk who would step in piss intentionally socks, shoes or anything. That is definitely gross. I'm gonna hope that's not what Bumstead does lol.

As for lifting in socks... yeah pulldowns, rows, presses, etc don't make sense to me. But it's super common to deadlift and squat with no shoes in powerlifting.

Yes, it’s a commercial gym. No one likes the manager of our gym because he doesn’t welcome being bothered with complaints. He’s so lazy he just goes upstairs to his office, shuts his door, and usually stays there until time to leave. Getting a piece of gym equipment fixed takes an act of Congress. Our gym manager simply does not care. He’s not a workout person. I’ve had others tell me he hates his job and it shows.

I've been training now for 30 years straight (1 week off in 1999 that I regret to no end, ruining my perfect record lol), and my goddamn peg leg calves didn't start growing until I started training barefoot in my own gym 5 years ago. Barefoot cardio too! Within a few years with no direct calf work, boom, they are no longer polio looking calves. I can train them directly now and actually "feel" them working! I'm actually happy with them for the first time in my life lol...

If you think about it, feet need to grip the ground. Just like hands need to grip the bar. Strong grip usually means meaty forearms. Same notion can be applied to Calf work. Digging down with your toes/feet, with full grip of toes to the ground, as you deadlift or row or squat or calf raise, and you apply more fine motor control. More motor recruitment! For me, that meant growth!

And its my gym so its fine...and if I feel like I need to be disgusting, I pee directly on my own feet in between sets. Urine is sterile anyways 😂

Because it’s common sense stuff you should know without being told or reading a sign.

Like @pesty4077 said I have a pair of shoes strictly for the gym like most others I know.
I can't think of the last time I saw anyone put a towel down to use a piece of equipment, maybe the last time was a year ago and the girl had on a mask and visor. Don't think I've seen anyone on IG use a towel so it's not just my area lol

I used a towel on the portable incline bench today. I sweat when I'm in the gym and when I train with people I don't want them to have to lay down in a puddle of my sweat.

Guys in the US, do you wear shoes in your own home and are they the same shoes you walk in on from being outside? My impression is that this is common? Here in Sweden this is very uncommon. Some do have home shoes or slippers but no one walks in with his outside shoes. Some insist on removing the shoes outside the door. In the gyms you are always supposed to change to gym shoes, there's a "shoe line" lol, but I confess I slip in without doing so most of the time unless it's wet outside etc.

A while back my friend complained his new gf made him wear slippers inside and take them off when going to the bathroom so as not to transfer germs.

After covid most gyms got very anal about always wiping down equipment with alcohol spray, even dumbell handles.

Well, squatting or deadlifting in those big ass sneakers with lots of cushion is like a sign of, "here's a total amateur" lol. Well not quite but I do notice if someone has certain types of thick soled sneakers and is squatting heavy. I use either Converse shoes, something with a thin sole, or if maxing in the deadlift, in socks. There's a whole category of deadlift shoes and slippers and socks, "barefoot shoes" for powerlifting aficionados lol.
