A few weeks ago I flew to Naples to undergo a comprehensive medical workup at fountain life.
Got a cardiac CT angiogram, full- body MRI (to check for malignancies/tumors in their infancy) including brain scan, DEXA, gut microbiome analysis, comprehensive bloodwork, etc.
I could never get a physician to prescribe these tests for me, despite a long family history of cardiovascular disease, cancer, brain aneurysms. Docs always say I'm too young (34) and healthy.
So I bit the bullet and paid out of pocket (around 9k) for the full workup. Everything came back great. No LVH present, Zero hard or soft plaque in any arteries, which is surprising considering the amount of McDonalds double cheeseburgers and Bourbon I've consumed in my life. The doc put together a 60-page PowerPoint presentation summarizing and explaining the results. Doc said he can say with fair certainty that i will not die of heart disease. I don't have enough time left in my life to accumulate the amount of plaque that would be necessary to cause a blockage.
If you are able to afford it, it's a pretty sweet service. I can't help but wonder how much death and disease could be prevented if diagnostic workups became the standard of care. The insurance industry is opposed to this type of thing for obvious reasons. They want & need you sick. No $$ in prevention. My primary doc flat out told me that he could get into hot water with the insurance companies if he prescribed diagnostic tests like this in the absence of symptoms. It's really disgusting to think about, honestly.
Nice to finally have some peace of mind. Now I'll need to be disciplined enough to not go bonkers with the gear, food, etc.
