Many to most states do not require classes to allow you to use your second amendment rights.

Technically you don't need a permit to exercise your 2nd amendment right. At least in PA it is fully legal to open carry in public. But be prepared to be stopped and questioned like crazy. I would never do it. Last thing I want is for anyone to know I'm carrying.

It's scary that people are allowed to carry with no known knowledge of shooting.
In Louisiana it's an 8 hr that really takes maybe 4 hrs and 20 rounds at the range , no shooting for score.

I personally run an 8hr class , it's 6 hrs and ALOT is crammed into it and an HR at the range shooting at least 100 rounds to as much at 500 depending on the student

In Illinois for a CCW it's two 8 hour courses, two days total. With shooting score, don't remember the exact number of shots (20 at 10ft?) as it's been a few years since I received my CCW.

Former Marine infantry, 0311 and sheriff deputy, I strongly advise you to rethink your carry.

A double action pull won’t set you back that much.

There is a grip safety on a .45. You have to physically hold to depress the safety in order for it to go off. Do a little more research there before you make those judgement calls.

This is something that is covered in classes if there is a lawyer present and it sounds inhumane but there should only be one side to the story if it comes down to having to fire your weapon.

The guy ahead of me in line years ago couldnt remember his address and said he had a stroke a few days ago... he still got his permit. Haha

Kind of sounds silly but its i our constitution. He should be allowed to protect himself just the same as you and i.
