they also had legit, accurately-dosed gear.
and who knows? some of them might have stayed on.. why wouldn't they? that's one thing that I don't understand about competitive bodybuilders -
I was reading on another site recently, where an upper-level national level competitor (who narrowly missed his pro card) said 'I've never gone above 2 grams a week, ever'. All these lemmings were agreeing with him and saying that anything above 2 grams a week is ridiculous/you better be mr. Olympia if you're running that much, etc.
whatever happened to fucking winning? did this guy mean to tell us that he put all that work into his diet, training, supplementation, etc...he let bodybuilding dictate his life choices SO much for so many years, but he'd rather lose than raise the dose past 2 grams?
guys spend years, decades of their life with a pro card as one of their main goals...but they won't up the dose a little bit (or a lot), in order to get it?
when Kevin Levrone finished second at the Olympia, do you think he was like 'aww fuck, guess i need to train harder and eat better'...? or do you think upping the drugs might have been in there too?
bodybuilding is one of the most competitive sports i can think of...yet, according to what many bodybuilders say, it seems to have some of the least competitive people (when you consider that it's the only sport where 'anything goes')
i guess what Big A said is true about people being full of shit.
sorry for the rant. lol
That's a keep it real post for the day! Nice. And I agree.
Most competitors do whatever the fuck it takes to win or place better (or improve). Then talk a bunch of bs later about moderation knowing full well they redlined it. If, for them, that means slamming a shit load of gear then they'll do it. Some guys are lucky and get by with less, more power to them. They preach moderation and are actually being honest. Guys fall all over that spectrum and it's hard knowing the truth because nobody wants to admit they need a lot more gear to keep up. I personally know I'd have to use a ton. I don't have the genetics. I have a friend who respond better on the same gear and basically the same diet. He just blows up when his doses go up. Then when I do use a lot of high dose compounds with orals and stuff, I feel toxic and can't eat, etc. I could never compete at that elite level, period. The focus on drugs should always be reduced and tempered, it's a good general message. But the reality is most dudes chasing a pro card (that I know) will do whatever the fuck it takes at the end of the day whether they admit it later or not.
Most people do one thing then say another. That's why when someone with good genetics, solid understanding, diet, training, etc., preaches lower doses, nobody believes it. At the same time, most people do whatever it takes to win at that level but wouldn't admit they risk their health habitually.
