Great progress m8! What is your diet like?
Thanks brother! Right now I am at about 300g. carbs for the day and usually one or two scheduled cheat meals depending on how I am looking per my coach's recommendations! I had problems gaining initially I think because my metabolism was running so high from the dieting and cardio for 7-8 months so we slowly started increasing the carbs. I started very obese at about 280 lbs. December of 2022 with no gym for probably 8-9 years!

Besides TRYING the bodybuilding thing I’m also a guitar player! Figured maybe I would share some of my guitar videos on here for something a little different from time to time! I do a lot of play through videos of mostly metal/hard rock songs!


 
Back update from this morning right out of bed! Gained another 1.5 lbs. or so.

Here’s a cool comparison! The bottom is when I first started lifting again and I think it was my first or second check-in photo to my coach in February 2023!! I believe I was around 265ish lbs. Then the top one from yesterday morning.

Busy weekend! My wife is a runner and is running the Gate River Run half marathon this morning! Additionally, my youngest daughter had a recital last night and one tonight as well! Makes for some late evenings staying up past my bedtime! Coach said any time I’m staying up extra long to make sure to take in another protein shake or meal which is what I did last night and will do tonight again! I can very easily become obsessed with what I’m doing and not want to be flexible. So I’m learning to be flexible with other life stuff and adjust my training/recovery/nutrition to meet those goals!

Cheat meal today which I’m very much looking forward to!

My strength plateaued a little on a few exercises so coach suggested taking an extra day off this week to help with recovery. Not missing any body parts but just pushing everything back by a day which I thought was a great idea and hadn’t really thought about it like that! I guess that’s why it’s beneficial working with a coach!! Checking back in with coach on Tuesday with weigh in and photos as usual.

Had my first exam this past week (2nd to last semester of Psych NP school) and nailed it with a 49.5/50!!

Just a quick update on what’s going on with me and the few new things I learned about adjusting training, recovery, etc!

Couple other random pictures taken yesterday! I feel like I’ve added a lot of upper chest thickness over this last year as well which was a goal of mine (and just overall thickness in general everywhere).

Talked to my coach about maybe doing a local amateur show some time in the future! Mainly just to cross it off the bucket list! It would be mostly for the experience and to see if I can push myself to that point!

Coach says best plan would probably wait until I turn 40 (in November) and continue growing and compete in a Masters category maybe at the end of the year or beginning of next year! So we’ll see how it plays out as long as I stay the course and don’t get invited along the way!

I’ll be done with school in August so will have a little more time once dieting/cardio come in to play regularly!

Just a picture update from this morning out of bed! Floating around 215 lbs.

Starting to work on some mandatory poses which I’ll post eventually and maybe you guys could give me some tips!

We may increase some carbs next week if the scale doesn’t start moving up again!

Thanks! She did great! She beat her time last year by 5 minutes or so which she felt good about! She just turned 40 so she isn't too competitive and really just does it now because she enjoys it! She is starting to train this week for the Subaru Half Marathon coming up in November here in Jacksonville!

Back and Abs this morning as follows:

Barbell Rows X 3 sets 8-10 reps
Single-arm dumbbell rows X 3 sets 8-10 reps
Machine Rows X 3 sets 4-8 reps with 1 drop set at the end
Lat Pulldowns Shoulder-width Neutral Grip X 4 sets 8-12 reps with 1 drop set at the end
Hypers X 2 sets 10-15 reps
Crunch Machine X 1 set 25-30 reps
Leg lifts X 1 set 10-15 reps
Obliques with dumbbells X 1 set 8-10 reps

I dropped the weight a little and really am trying to focus on a strong stretch/contract and really stimulating the muscle group I am working. I was 216 lbs. as of yesterday morning. Extra cheat meal (Quarter Pounder with extra cheese, medium fries, and an Oreo McFlurry) assigned by my coach which I always get excited about!! Will check back in Friday with the coach. Hope everyone is having a great day/week!
