RIP Ultimate Warrior

An autopsy was performed Thursday with the cause and manner of death released Monday.

According to Maricopa County, Warrior, 54, died of "atherosclerotic/arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease" and of natural causes. The medical examiner's office will continue its investigation into Warrior's death, in consultation with his family and doctors, although a full autopsy report likely won't be completed for several months.

As we all know there are many causes of cardiovascular disease, from stress to drug use.

Any medical professionals in the forum that can explain to us laymen what
atherosclerotic/arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease is?

I thought I read in an interview he did a few years ago that he said he knew he would die at a young age. He said that his father died at the age of 57 and both his grandfathers died at the age of 52. That's just what I read though.

I like how the media always uses steriod use as their go to. Sounds like his family has a cronic cardiac issue. Intrested on a further findings. Either way I hope his close ones and family find peace with his passing. RIP

it's quite simple: for causes still largely unknown (2 of the most likely candidates are lipids storing in the artheries and inflammation), there is a process of thickening of the wall of artheries. at this point 2 things can basically happen:
1- in a certain point, the wall becomes so thick that the blood can't pass through anymore
2- altough not so thick, the inflamed wall gets a rupture and that cause a blood clot to form, which leads to artherial obclusion.

when the blood doesn't arrive anymore to a certain area, this area dies.

i take this opportunity to pay tribute to the ultimate warrior.
he had for sure a big and positive influence on my life and will never be forgotten.

Yes, good assessment. Notice the very prominent JVD (jugular vein distention) extending all the way up his neck into his jaw. Looks like a classic hypervolemic CHF (congestive heart failure) patient. You see JVD like this anytime venous return is greater than the heart's ability to pump the blood back out. The most common cause is heart failure. Right sided heart failure to be exact. But the most common cause of right heart failure is left heart failure. Generally speaking the higher up the neck it extends, the higher the venous pressure. This is because gravity wants to pull the blood down naturally. Thus his JVD is profound. He should have been hospitalized on IV Lasix instead of giving a speech. There were many signs. He chose to ignore. Now he's dead.

Videos are not as clear as when you watched on TV, but his complexion and the distended EJV is what stood out the most. I read somewhere that those backstage thought he was going to drop dead when he climbed into the ring he was so bad.
