Cushing`s disease

Sustaind stress is known to deplete energy and may cause the adrenal gland to react in manner that causes certain hormonal imbalances.
Prolonged stress also significantly weaken the immune system. Higher and prolonged levels of cortisol in the bloodstream may also induce numerous other adverse effects. One of the most common form of stress induce Chushing`s disease in dogs. Cushing`s disease is often mistaken for the aging process. In addition to Cushing`s, cortisol may also cause weight gain, loss of hair, and joint / arthritic problems. Rescued dogs will have more stress due to their traumatic history.

It`s extremely important for dog owners to educate themselves about prevention of elevated cortisol levels in their dog`s bloodstream and to realize that cortisol production in dogs can be regulated and managed.
Management of cortisol levels results , longer life and an enhanced quality of life for the dog.
