That is a beautiful dog.

However, he is an american akita and not japanese. The japanese akitas only come in white, red and brindle and do not have black masks. If you see any akita with a black mask it is american. If see the movie Hachi you will see what a japanese akita looks like. Either way you have a beautiful dog

ah I had no idea but we're on the same island it's a good climate for dogs but i keep my dog's hair short to avoid her collecting mud in the countryside during the interminable rainy periods we have here

Beautiful Akita..! I miss mine terribly. Many years ago had a big beautiful brindle male named Mr. Mojo Rison. He was a massive muscular beast, tall and about 165lbs and an absolutely lover. Around family and friends he was a dopey goofball, always making us laugh at his silliness. He talked a lot, Akitas do that. But holly hell, if he sensed a threat, he was the scariest more furious animal on the planet.

I know someone that breeds brindles if your interested. I have a brindle thats one year old now and still amazed at her personality.
