AVI converter for Mac?

I have an action cam that takes AVI video file format, when I upload them unto my macbook I can't view them. The seller informed me that I need a PC instead of a Macbook but I don't use PC's and sadly I purchased it without reviewing the requirements but what software can I download for FREE to make these videos files viewable?

Download VLC video player for Mac OS X. It is free and open source. Otherwise, there is some plugin, called Perian Quicktime plugin that will do the job.

You can try Macgo Media Player. This is free media player for MAC that plays AVI (and many other formats, including 1080p / 4K videos)
