5 Weeks from first contest

Hey guys....

I think this might be the first time i've posted on this forum but I've been reading it almost daily for the last two years. Thanks to all the great advice and motivation on here, I've finally decided to do my first contest on May 10th. Right now I am 5-7 and 204 but I hope to be a Lt. Heavy by then.

I know I am still holding fat or water in my legs... for some reason they arent clearing up. I changed my diet a bit this week and cut my carbs a little so hopefully they will be clearing up soon.

I think my other weak spot are my triceps... they just dont seem to pop like i see other peoples.

Anyhow, here are a few pics taken last week. Sorry the lighting sort of sucks... I really feel I look a lot better in person but still would like your guys comments and suggestions.

I've seen some of the competition and I'm getting a little nervous :-D

You have asessed yourself pretty well, upper body looking great, you will just need to lose that water in the legs.

Some of your poses concern me, look a little "off balance." The one in particular I would really like you to work on is your side tricep. Ironically, the side tricep part is just fine but you are not positioning your outer leg well. It should be indented in slightly held very tightly and flexed at the same time against the inside leg, the one the judges will not be seeing.

As with so many poses, you are always showing body parts other than that in the name of the pose. Like most poses, the side tricep should be built from the bottom up, meaning leg in proper position, calf flexed, then quad, and then the actual execution of the tricep part last.

You should be investing at least 45 minutes a day with your mandatories inside of 30 days of the contest. Make sure you are posing between sets while training in the gym. Many are afraid to do this for fear of looking like a "show-off" but just worry about yourself and know if you are not doing this
your potential competitors are!

I was practicing posing the other night with a friend who competed in the Arnold and he said the same thing... well he actually said my side tri pose sucked. :) And that i have much more muscle but I'm not showing it off and it doesnt come out in the posing.

I've been practicing with my trainer every saturday for the last 6 weeks and on my own at the gym a couple more times in the morning.

I agree though, I definitely need to work on my posing more and starting next week i will be devoting time every day.

Keep leaning out and drop that water. You will do fine, you are carrying plenty of muscle and look to have a fairly well balanced physique.

Keep working on the posing... I really recommend buying the video 'Perfect Posing' from http://www.perfectposing.com/ .

bro, you really look good! My eyes go to the weak parts first, which as you also mentioned are your arms vs the rest of your bodyparts. Man, if you can shred those quads and get some DEEP separations, you should do GREAT in your first contest!! You have potential, bro, to go far........good luck in your show!
