So I’m heading to Dubai in a few days and I’m planning all my activities. Will be there for 5 days so plenty of time. I wanted to visit Abu Dabhi and instead of hiring a tour guide and driver I was thinking of renting an exotic and driving myself. I sold my Mclaren last year and been fiending. I’m talking to a rental company and they send me these terrifying terms and conditions regarding speeding and all that. So I did some googling and it appears the fastest you can legally drive is 60mph and they have auto radars everywhere. Penalties are stiff and I would have to cover the car being impounded. For any of y’all with experience there is this just exaggerated bullshit or is it really that strict. I’m not gonna spend a G to just drive around 60mph so I can look cool lol.

I've also heard of dudes getting stranded out in the middle of nowhere when the exotic takes a shit and breaks down. THen they're on the hook for the towing to get it back.

I'd believe the terms they provide lol

Dubai is one of if not the most amazing places in the world, and a key component of that is that it is by far the safety city in the world. Everyone that's been there says you can leave your doors unlocked, leave your wallet out on a table in a public place and it'll be there untouched hours later. Different levels of respect there.

But that respect is due to the respect for law enforcement and their willingness to act if needed, I would assume. I think it's really hard to get yourself jammed up with LE in Dubai unless you blatantly look for trouble which would be the case by flying in an exotic as a foreigner especially. Haha

Yeah I’m gonna pass. Doesn’t seem worth the risk. Breaking laws in foreign countries terrifies me. I don’t wanna end up like the dude in Midnight Express lol. Hoping to just buy another McLaren after the summer.
