Will an Endocrinologist readily treat a steroid user?

depends on the endo ......If you walk in with test levels of 20 im sure he would feel obligated to treat you

Normally they try to fix problem naturally and only use TRT as a last result.

That is a very general statement though, so Im sure there are exceptions.

Most of the time a urologist is who specializes in TRT due to the long standing myth that testosterone causes prostate cancer. Someimes endo will even refer to uro once diag is made.

There are also dedicated HRT clinics popping up all over the place. My guy wrote me test C @ 200/wk with a serum total right in the middle and free test at the top of normal.

If you want it you'll find it. Just look around a bit.

Hmm, that's news to me. My general phsysician referred me to an endo who treated me. I just assumed that was standard practice.

No most endo's don't know their ass from a hole in the ground in regards to HRT. Endo just means they know how the endocrine system function's, augmenting it is a whole other world.

Its sad actually. Maybe you found a good HRT doc, which is hard to come by.

What kind of numbers did you have on your last blood work? everything good?

is your protocol working for you?

They have me on 150mg every week which puts me just over 1000. Been on this dose over a year now. I'd say it's working great.

Yes, a good one will most likely treat a former steroid user, but not a current one.

My doctor (urologist with a fellowship in andrology) treats many former users, but not current users. I've referred three former users to him and they had no problem getting his help.

Ive gotten help every time I've needed it

I have been on and off cycles for years and at times I have needed a endo to check me out. I have never had a issue with telling them the WHOLE story and them not giving me the help I've needed. Whether it be off cycle or giving me some test, and this is different docs all over the country.

I've been to 2 endos in the past month..both want me to go atleast 2 years with out an injection to see if my natural levels will come back..this is coming off 6 years of strait use of high doses..my test levels are 200? So I say screw an endo, gonna try a HRT clinic next.

This is my experience as well. My brother is on hrt, and his urologist referred him to an endocrinologist for test replacement. The urologist only monitors him with twice a year physicals while the endocrinologist monitors bw and everything else on a regular basis.

No Ive never been to an Endo, I work in the field and hear numerous reports about Endo's wanting to try the natty route, even after someone has been on for the past 6 years like the poster above said.

Are we all in the US here? I will say over seas many Endo's prescribe, but it is MUCH less common here in the US.

For instance you can go to the A4M registry and see that most of the HRT certs have been given to Uro's.

Like I said though, just because it is common it is not certain. It really doesn't matter what kind of doctor you have that treats you, as long as he is experienced in TRT.

if you take HCG for the boys? Not right now. If my wife and I have problems conceiving in the future that may be something to consider.

Is your hematocrit high? What do you do to keep this in check. Hematocrit has always been in range, usually several points away from the top end even.
