Started running again 6 weeks ago, basically weight train eod and do 15 mins hard running eod.

8 Min mile at first and here we are 6 weeks later and I've done 6.00

That's a big drop.

Rhr down from 62 to 52. Maintained strength and bw at 240

Any of you geezers can do this?

No but I got a nice shiny 1st place medallion from where I ran a 5 minute mile in the 4th grade ;)

How many miles can you hold that pace?

Yup, I try to do this every couple of weeks or so. I am DEAD by the end of it. No way I could have imagined I'd be able to accomplish that even a year ago so I'm pleased I can now do it. I am 208lbs though and 5'10. I am guessing you're taller if you're 240lbs.

That’s a great time, just gota see if you can keep it for longer distances..

I have to ask though, is this on a treadmill or actual running?

There is quite a difference and doesn’t translate over lol

Imagine what he could do with EPO.

^great question about a treadmill or not. My five was on the road (street was closed for racing). Also I've hit a 19:something minutes on a 3.5 mile several times (low 20's was most common) when in high school as I ran cross country for my school(was hungover for most runs as we would drink on friday nights and had to run early saturday).. Most these 3.5 mile runs were on pavement or trails (off road dirt, grass)

For me, it's a treadmill. Have to go 10mph for 5 minutes and 11mph the last minute.

I prefer to save my knees and hips. They take enough beating during the loading from lower body workouts.

I guess I've never really seen a runner with body that I would like to look like.

any of you guys that run; do you any of you have lower back issues? i'd like to take up running but i have degenerative disc disease and herniations from l3 down to s1. if someone has some similar issues and is able to run i'd be really interested in hearing their experiences.

Exactly same as me. I do 10mph on treadmill.

I think if I stick at it I could go faster as I've only been running again for a few months. One day I squat 220 x 8 next day I do 1 mile in six mins.

Sorry to burst your bubble but running on a treadmill doesn’t translate to actual running out on a track or pavement or a trail etc... You’re using a belt going 10mph backwards to assist in leg turnover, not to mention how much more cushioned and smooth it is to run on a treadmill...

Not necessarily. My road time yesterday was 4 seconds faster than the treadmill.

Fresh air can help vs indoors... I'd highly suggest hitting some nature trails etc if you have any wooded areas around that you could run on as it will greatly improve both your mood (better "runners high") and your speed. Any of the 3.5 mile runs I spoke of that where under 20 minutes were normally completely off road and may have had the most hills to climb up and down but also had the most trees around me...

Nope but I can swim one in under 30. I haven’t “ran” since 3 knee surgeries in 2000. Swimming has zero impact on your body besides ego.

Yep i can do 4.2 min a mile on a scooter
