You need to stop guessing and work on your pattern development.
What would a dirty bulk do? Make you fatter and less healthy.
What would a clean bulk do? Make you fatter and less healthy.
While you are ultimately going to gain SOME body fat, you don't have to stop being very lean.
If you eat (x) amount of calories or macros, wouldn't a rational answer to be to bump up just slightly until you progress? Taking a random shot in the dark makes no sense.
Increase your protein by 5g/meal for a month. Check progress. Increase pre/intra/post WO carbs for a month. Check progress. No progress? Increase another 5g. Etc.
Same for training. 200lbs now? Bump it to 205... 210... Slowly. Not gaining? Look at your nutrition.
This isn't magic by any means. There are no "tricks". You don't have to force feed yourself into digestive issues or hire Hany Rambod and start the magical FST-7 program.
If you hire guys like Shelby and John, they essentially will do the same thing. Smart, logical progress. It's why they're so successful.
