As a teenager in the mid 80's we didn't have the internet. But, somehow pics of these monsters showed up in my gym and they influenced me more than any other bodybuilder who was profiled in Muscle & Fitness. Me and another buddy started dressing like them, wearing cut off camo pants and flannels.

I have seen them train many times. They were very entertaining and
damn strong and iconoclastic that I don't think anybody was prepared
for. I did not know them or ever speak with them, never had the desire
but they were fun too watch and much liked. Physique wise I was not
impressed. Personally, they had odd physiques, not 'built' for bodybuilding.

I remember when Richard Jones was supposed to be the next big thing. A lot of hype on him to turn the tide away from mass at all costs. The comparisons to Shawn Ray were evident. In a way he was Phil before there was Phil. His structure is better than Phil's in my opinion and he also had the same ability to get really dry in the lower body from the back.

He did one Olympia and the called it quits, right? Something like he didn't feel the health risks were worth it for him in the long run or something to that nature iirc?

Brian Moss / Better Bodies were almost ubiquitous in the bodybuilding media at one point, he dated Gladys Portugues for some time which made me a bit envious, he has some great pictures on his Instagram.
