Whats up guys. If you are getting sick of seeing me every week let me know. I am preparing for the NPC New England on May 4. I am currently 13 weeks out. At 6 foot 268lbs (down form 282) 22 yrs old. I am doing a traditional low carb moderate fat high protein diet. Just upped my cardio to 1hr a day (started today it sucked) low impact. staying pretty srtong but deffinetly shrinking. Dieting sucks lol. Hope i can keep some of the mass I worked my a$$ off for this year. Let me know what ya think...

An hour of cardio per day is a lot or 13 weeks out. Try not to get as "thick" next off-season. If you have to lose too much bodyfat, you'll wind up losing muscle with it too. Also, try to get somebody to work with you on your posing.

Otherwise, you look good bro. Just make sure you get lean for the show and you'll do fine. Good luck!
 
Have to agree with Big Dave. BF doesn't seem too bad being 13 weeks out. Deffinately time to pull it off. An hour at this point is hi if you're doing it every day. Then again, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Take Dave's advice on hiring someone for posing coaching/guidance.
Thick for 22 though.

Rob Roy- i want to say first i am actually a fan of yours. I love the advice you give on here and your physique is incredible. I have actually been thinking of moving down to the AZ. area. If i do i would love to possibly meet you and check out your facility. I know my posing needs some work I just have a hard time getting my self to pose when i am sooo out of shape. Nothing looks good when you are fat lol. as the show gets closer i will be posing a couple of times a week. I have a few close friends who compete and will help me with posing as well. As far as the hour of cardio i am doing extremely low impact i walk at about 3MPH at an incline. My goal is to try doing longer sessions lower impact in hope to preserve some muscle. I plan on getting my shit together very soon. This is early for me to start a diet. I usually start at about 10-12 weeks so i will be decent by then and will follow my usual prep from there. I am confident that i will be able to get in shape in time. I do infact have a fast metabolism and usually have a hard time putting on weight. This year i just went a lil overboard trying to get big and got wayyyy to sloppy but i am 22 and all i can do is learn. thank you again for your input and i hope you can continue to help along the way.

Thank you, that really means alot to me. I just try to poor back in the knowledge that I've gained from this board and the vets that linger around here. I can't tell you how much I've learned from picking brains on PM.
I love AZ, but it has been good to me. I guess, to each thier own. Then sun seems to give me the extra energy that I need. I'm just more productive here than I was when I lived in Chicago. Any time you decide to visit AZ, let me know when ya wanna stop by and jump into a workout.
Sounds like you hve the right idea with the cardio, just make sure that you have an experienced outside eye to keep an eye on you and to let you know if you start to drop too fast. I made that mistake last year. Then again dieting for 34 weeks may not have been the best choice.:D Keep at it Brutha and don't hesitate to hit me with a PM with any questions.
 
To me, you look alot leaner from the front than from the back. I am the same way, as my back never seems to "come in" until the last 4 weeks or so. Looks like you have all the tools to bring in a nice package come show time. Keep pushin.
 
Hey BigRick, is there someone in your area that can watch you pose? Starting now would be a good launching point. I've noticed that once someone poses wrong long enough, straightening them out becomes increasingly difficult. They always resort back to what they "feel" is right. :)

Can't wait to see you strip down some more. I'm talking of course about body fat, in case someone like, oh say, Mainevent reads this. :D

Yeh my back deff comes in at the end. At my last show my back did have some desent detail (just not big enough) hopefully i will get some of the detail back. Its still very early. Thanks for the positive input...will be updating weekly...

I do have some friends that have competed in the past or still do. Though it is very difficult to actually get someone to commit to being there for you weekly or so to help out. We all of are own schedule ya know. You kinda have to pay someone in order to get the appropriate attention and I am broke. I hired Dave Palumbo for my diet and I cant really spend much more this year. I will try posing on my own even with my girlfriend helping is better then nothing.I appreciate you guys getting on me about it. It will keep it in my mind so i will do it.

Bigrick, I have to agree with the others here. An hour a day at this point may be a little too much, What tends to happen is you have no way out if you are behind in your diet. By doing more than 1 hr a day you then run the risk of sacrificing lean mass to burn more fat which then slows things down. In the past I always did 30 minutes of cardio first am on an empty stomach. This gave me an ace up my sleeve if I felt i was behind in my diet. I could then bump it up to 45 minute or an hour and it had the desired effect. If you have only just started an hour of cardio I would maybe back that down a bit and keep the reserve on tap. Adjust your diet to burn more fat without having to resort to hours of cardio. Keep your protein high as this will aid in fat burning and stop you from getting too catabolic as you diet. But you look good and thick for a youngster!!! LOL. Keep the diet ultra tight for now and don't do anything too radical.

I do agree the cardio is a little jurastic. I even spoke to some friends of mine who competed in the past and they agree. Although, I hired Dave Palumbo to do my prep therefore I have no choice other then to do what I am told. Otherwise why bother hiring someone. I am really strict (grew up with a special forces marine lol my dad) and refuse to cheat and will just continue to do as I am told. If this doesnt workout then I will infact look elsewhere in the future for help. The knowledge of all of you has been very helpfull to me all year but, unfortunately inless you hire someone you really cant depend on anyone to help you all the way. We all know if everyone has there own way of doing things. Had i listened to everyone from the boards I would be very confused at to what exactly I need to do. Like I said if things do not workout this year i will consider maybe working with Phil or Rob Roy in the future. I am only 22yrs old and i guess I have a lil time to screw up and learn my body. Thank you again for all of your help I hope to make some decent improovments this week so i can possibly back off the cardio a lil. I am not doing any fat burners or anything yet so that should help as well.
 
DAVES GUYS COME IN RIPPED SO JUST DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU. IF SAYS AN HOUR OF CARDIO, DO IT. I AGREE WITH YOU, IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO PAY FOR SERVICES AND THEN IGNORE THEM.
