I have watched Yates video and due to editing I cannot tell how long he is resting between sets.I have read that his workouts only take 45mins and that he trains in the gym by himself and sets all his weights up before he begins.I read once that a bodybuilder visiting from another country turned up to look at have a workout out at Temple gym and spoke to dorians wife at the time and she said Dorian is about to work out but you can work out as long as you don't look directly at or stare at him.So I presume he must have not rested very long between sets and that he must be pretty agro when he trains.Anyone have any knowledge on this.

Also I noticed him performing lying ext considering he tore his tricep and I am getting sore elbows from them does any one know of an excellent substitute for a basic tricep exercis for the inner head of the tri.I am thinking bench dips anyone have any ideas.

Close grip benches elbows to the sides don't wrap your thumb around
bar.

I would imagine he went high intensity with little rest.

Long Rest

Take as long as you need between sets.

If you insist on working out like that then you need to rest longer in between sets.

stevo 47 if you mean close grip bench with elbows into sides then I cannot do that excercise anymore it used to be my favorite tri excercise and close bench elbows out is more outer tricep.I am not sure what conan 21 is replying too.I think Alin is right he must have recovered between sets but trained at a fair pace overall.I had sore elbows for about 8mths and worked through it with rope pushdown and hammer ext but last week I irritated them on hammer ext.

I'm not sure but when he tore his tricep I'll put money down that he
did it doing tricep extentions. I've seen more injuries doing heavy
extentions and isolation exercises. I have problems with my elbows too
doing exten. If you can't do close grip benches without hurting your
elbows, then I don't what else to tell ya. How about dips with again
arms close to the body. I would think that anyone with elbow problems
should stay away from any kinda exten. movement.

haha.

what a warrior - don't look directly into his eyes, thats what they tell someone who is being introduced to an attack dog (rottwieller, doberman) for the first time. seriosuly. lol,.

about rest time, its all about how much time you need to be able to get the BEST POSSIBLE EFFORT on your 1 work set, per excercise.

He said it was a barbell pullover/extension combo of some sort.

You are right Killer I do believe that it was a pullover tri ext combo... I've heard it referred to as a rolling ext... The person who first introduced it to me was the one and only Johnny Perry... I saw him do them with both a bar and dbells... Man that dude was a "Freak!"

So i was half right. Def. a great tricep lift if you can do em without
discomfort.

Dont forget Drorian's genetics, same as Arnold. These are a few guys like this in the entire population that actually take advantage of their genetics and use them to get big. I also know a guy who never works out, he's 5'6 and is a bit overweight, about 240, but anytime of the year he can go into the gym put on 325 lbs and do sets of 10-12 on bench. The guy is packed with meat eventhough he never works out. He's a semi driver. That's called genetics.

I don't know what happens if you looked but it is interesting to wonder

And when he attacks you,lay face down on the ground and don't move!

I went to a seminar of Dorians where he explained his training. He does a few warm up sets and then one all out set for each exercise with a few forced reps. He had a training partner who was a former army officer who really pished him.
His training is basically his adaptation of Mentzers Heavy duty and other HIT styles

His Blood and Guts video was my favorite training video.

I don't know how he is as a person, but I liked it that he didn't do all the put- down's and bragging that guys today seem to do. He'd just go away, work hard and win. I admired him for that as much as the physique. I have the flex with those transformation pics in it. He was just impressive. Too bad all those injuries got to him. That's a bummer.

like jt said.. he just went about his biz and never had negatives to say about anyone.. he did rest along time though when it came to his workset.. the pullover press is awesome if you have the shoulders to do it..

Wrong. Dorian was probably the least geneticaly gifted out of all the olympia's. He did it by hard work, determination, dedication, and of course the juice. Look for his pictures when he was younger, he has no genetics.

Agree!!!!!! and and he has a very strong body to hold ol the workouts and stuff even the fact he had different injures, i think other guys can have more injures than him training like this.

REST IN AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE BW 45 SECS TO 1 MINUTES ...

He designed hes own high intensity training after learned form Mike Mentzer, i tried a couple of time but i couldnt handle it. I couldnt finish the workout and 2 days after the workout with fever. It is very hard training almost the whole body the same day in 45 to 50 minutes, adding all the stuff other people dont want to take.

Also look at hes partners, they finish their carears very early or in bad health condition, or look at the other competitors that tryed to reach him and they finished in the hospital or crazy... HMMM he admirable, and after all of this he is totally healthy, happy and $$$$

To answer your specific question, I read somewhere he goes by oxygen debt to determine how long to rest so it varies with each exercise
