175lbs, taken today. I'm working on the tan and all the hair is coming off nxt week :eek:. I upped my carbs this weekend to see how it affected me as Ive been feeling really flat. Its all still a learning game for me. Any advice is much appreciated.

Yes, post some upper body pictures. Your legs look like they are a little behind, but without upper body pictures, it is hard to determine. You could be one of those guys, that his legs come in last, for me it is my gut and lower back.

I personally think you can be ready in 5 weeks, but you seem to me to be a little bit behind, you might want to decrease carbs and boost the cardio up. On a positve note, a good all around physique!

cheers pesty, I plan on doing just that this week and assessing again next Sunday, I think I looked leaner in last weeks photos but was also flatter. Its all about seeing how you react to things I suppose. Im very aware of what Shelby said about losing muscle so whatever I do won't be drastic either way :)

Smart thinking, decreasing carbs will make you look flatter, but will also lean you out. Get very lean first, your last couple of days, you will fill out on carbs. Take a journal on your progress, when you are making these changes, you will know why. I think you are over 40? Great built for any age!
 
I think that you look very good as far as being "on or off Schedule" It's tough to say without seeing previous pics of you week by week; because people lose fat at different paces, some people can get ripped in 2-3 weeks, I've seen it.

But you are in good shape, IMO for 5 weeks out, it's just a matter of comming up with a plan, knowing that it will work and sticking to it. One mistake that a lot of people make, me included is having a plan than losing faith in it at the last minute and panicking trying to change too much all at once.

I agree with Pesty, it is a good idea that you have in not making too drastic of a change in your diet and that you sould try to get lean enough before and and filling out later.

thanks for the sound advice guys, I really appreciate it. I do have a plan and I will not make any drastic moves as my body can change its look in less than 24 hours depending on what I eat.
Yeah I am 40 so Im doing this for all the older guys out there to show what can be done :D
 
You look good michelin. Right about where you should be for 5 weeks out.

Upper body is harder than lower, but that's pretty typical for first time competitors.

Keep up the good work and keep us updated on your progress.

You'll look quite a bit different with the hair off. I notice [through all the growth..lol] that you've got some veins showing through on your vastus medialis ..right by the knee. Looking forward to seeing the next week pics.
 
Looking on a good pace for 5 weeks out...make some small adjustments as needed and you will even change more! Looking good Michelin, keep at it hard!
