I've read big as post on this. Other than that post I haven't found much info on it, what it can actually do for your physique, how to use it etc..
So my question is, do any of you use it? How much? when? What result do you see from it.
Just acquired a large bottle of it, deciding what to do with it

I use it pretty often... maybe 3 times a week... i feel like when i have a cheat meal if i pop them then they are doing me some good in giving a little room for the extra carbs... I don't know how effective it has been but it can't hurt...
Also since i use GH regularly, i like the idea of metformin "refreshing" my insulin receptors...
I've read a bunch on it and still not totally clear how it works... would be cool if someone could break it down in laymans terms...
from what i understand is it blocks some of the carbs from being absorbed, and slows gastric emptying (feel full longer)... and also refreshes insulin receptors...

I use it after a cheat meal, 2 x 500mg pills.

Usually find within a couple of hours I wanna go to the toilet??

Cheap so thought why not

I use 850mg after a cheat meal within a hour. Sometimes before workout too to push glucose into my muscle for better pump. I have use it offseason once for about 4 months 3x 850mg a day and keep me very lean.

metformin is great for carb load. I only use it for pre contest. Year around I prefer to use R-ALA.

Laymans:

It does 3 things and you hit on 2 of them.

1)As you stated it does inhibit the absorption of some carbs/sugars.

2) refreshes/increases sensitivity of insulin receptors

3) reduces sugar made and dumped by the liver

Note: It is NOT oral insulin which is a misconception and even advertised as such by one of the sponsors.

Doesn't do that,it refreshes receptors but does not act like or mimmick insulin.

so if I wanted to take it in order to stay leaner in the off season it could work by helping your body process excess carbs the way you want. Correct?

Thought insulin helps tranport into the cells whereas metformin pushes glucose into the muscle. Well, if I'm right I'm sorry. Can someone explain this more briefly, thanks

It would help limiting the amount of sugar absorbed into the body. Also,by keep sugars lower any cardio you do would be more effective.
Metformin also reduces appetite in most and they are not sure why.

Yes, Insulin shuttles glucose into the cells and is very efficient at finding its receptors. But Metformin isn't any type of transport chemical, as stated it refreshes/increases sensitivity of the forementioned receptors.

I was talking with the Depomed rep a couple of weeks ago and he mentioned that they are seeing Glumetza(time released metformin) written at anti aging and wellness clinics. He said 500-1000 mgs a day of long acting in the over 50 folks is a new trend.

interesting...let's see what happens

That new product sounds interesting Kid1, Ive read MEtformin being used in the anti aging community,

I use it with cheat meals and the rare occasion I eat a bunch of sugars, my wife and kids love those damn cupcakes and they are loaded with sugars so I make sure I bring a tab of met with me when I know were going for that OR Gelato lol.

Other than that I dont use it that often or on a regular basis, maybe 1-2x per week and I do use GH so it does me some good for that long term.
