BARRY SANDERS.

Last edited:
Best of all time IMO

He is the best, i remember watching him at home (never got to se him in the dome) and wondering what he could have done if he had a team round him worth more than piss in a pot.

peace

One of the greatest to have ever played the position. Not just because of his talent either. Barry was a true gentlemen both on and off the field. A selfless athlete that remained humble his entire career. There are not many that have his humble attitude and respect the game for what it is.

Too many hotshots today in the NFL, that don't appreciate the opportunity they have...get to play a kids game for their job and get paid serious cash.

Nice call on this one Vander!

Had had the pleasure of being faked out of my shoe while trying to tackle the man in a preseason game .......he had the best quicks I have ever seen bar none .......

I used to hate seeing the lions play the bucs. Barry used to destroy our defense.

sanders

vander i was at that game in buffalo when corn bennet had him 99% down and he still spun away and gained 30yards unreal back

Bad to the Bone

Emmitt Smith cound'nt tie his shoe laces.
Retired way to EARLY.

wedge

Barry by far the best...

I wish BARRY had the line that EMMET had...BARRY did all that with a sub-par O-line...amazing. I am glad I have 5 of his rookie cards.

I just have to chime in on this post... Reggie is GOOD .. .but Barry is GREAT.

That mother fucker puts the H in heart! His skill is beyond comparison but FUCK that brothers got heart and determination that cant be taught or bought.

As a Bears fan I HATED Barry. We would keep him down all game long, then GOODBYE...he would break a 75yd TD. Drove me nuts.

Detroit will be brutal this year...Bears are going to the NFC Championship game, but won't make it to the Super Bowl.

The best to ever do it was Walter Payton..followed by Barry.

Wrong, not only was Barry a better east west runner and scrambler his lower center of gravity and explosive stop and go ability makes him superior, now Walter was unreal no doubt a stronger more agressive runner with north south up the mid running and breaking tackles like none other, but Walter also had a championship line with great awarness of the game Barry had scrubs that wouldnt even be starters on most NFL teams, so lets just say Barry made something outta nothing , i watched the games every single one and it was almost like the Detroit linemen were all doing there own thing sometimes even colliding into eachother:p In d-town it was a huge joke and we knew Barry was doing his very best with the cards he was dealt, IF Barry had even a slightly decent line with even playoff material he would have continued playing football and destroying any record, simply the all time best RB.

sorry not a chance Sanders was better. Payton had a champ line for only a few years of his career, the first half dozen Payton was it, his QBs sucked too till McMahon matured. When it came to "making something out of nothing" Payton was as good as Sanders. Watch some of Walter's old stuff...
But for the record, Jim Brown was the greatest. Payton second...and yes I am a Payton fan even though the Raiders are my team.
Sanders was third or fourth best, depending on where you put Smith.

Well I will admit..Jim Brown is who I modeled myself after when I played halfback.

Jim is a living legend. You are 100% correct about about Payton. The Bears sucked big time...I was born and raised in Chicago..Southside baby!!

Payton was the most complete back ever. I think Jim Brown was the most dominating.

I still say Payton is the greatest..No comp!!

#1- Walter Payton
#2- Eric Dickerson
#3- Barry Sanders
#4- Jim Brown
#5- Gale Sayers

Read this and weep Vander..lol

Payton was the best, is the best and always will be the best. Payton was the purest football player ever, he was the best blocker of any running back in NFL history, there is no comparison in that category. He rushed for 16726 yards in only 13 years, he had at least 3-4 good years left in him, and if he hadn’t retired, could have amassed over 20,000 yards. You can say Emmitt is the best, based on yards, and if you base it on yards, he is the best, but you see, you can base things on just yards. If you only do this on one criteria, then it isn’t worth posting. You have to add in receiving, blocking and lots of other things, like leadership. Payton was an amazing leader, Jim Brown and Emmitt Smith were not. Payton was the greatest blocker of any running back in NFL history. Payton had 492 receptions, 4538 yards and 15 touchdown receptions. Just look at it! the only running back who is a better receiver is Marshall Faulk. Okay, I can keep rambling on like this but I don’t think I am convincing you. Okay, Smith I think was lucky to be in such a good situation in Dallas, I mean, it was perfect. Payton’s situation was not perfect, he got stuck in Chicago and with a team that had been losers for the past 5 or more years. Payton led the Bears to the Super Bowl in 1985 and it was one of the greatest seasons in NFL History, the Bears also did this without a Troy Aikman type quarterback or a Michael Irvin type wide receiver, they did it with Walter Payton rushing for 1551 yards and Jim McMahon at quarterback. If you take Aikman off of the Cowboys, your taking away 3 rings, if you take McMahon away, then the Bears still would have one the Super Bowl. Payton had more of an effect on his team then Smith ever had on his. Payton went to 9 pro bowl’s and Smith went to 8. Okay, if all of this doesn’t convince you, then I don’t know what will.

Payton is the greatest running back ever to put on cleats. Make your argument for who is number one

And it also says you could consider Emmit Smith the best lmao , look were not talking about winning a ring bro , were talking about skill and natural talent only.

I said Emmit, if you were looking at yards only. All raw natural talent..once again Walter.

Barry was the best at doing what Barry did. But he was an o-lineman's worst nightmare. When you don't know where your back is going to end up it makes your job extremely difficult. As far as an all around back, being a football player, Payton no question. As a back you have to have a nose for the end zone, last time I check Barry was replaced in goal line situations...

obviously T.O. is the first to come to mind when one says that

Vander your from Mi.? why would you leave, the great weather, the booming economy, Man I just love it here.... lol.... Barry was great could you imagine if he would have had a real offensive line to start behind!!
