Did you know that they are actually a seed, not a nut?

They come from cashew apples.

I saw orchards of them in Cambodia when I was there in 2004.

Most of the cashews in the U.S. come from Vietnam.

Thats crazy, had no idea. What is up with calling non-nuts nuts? First peanuts, now I learn this. They are the most delicious of the so-called "nuts" !

Had no freakin' idea. Thanks, now I can spread the word. I dont eat them as they are too addicting to me and so a pistachos. Try cashews in a shake. When blended up they make for a very smooth, silky flavor.

I love cashews. I'll go threw bags of those things. They make a tasty addition to a salad when you crush them up and put them on top.

Interesting post.

chicken

i have crushed them up to fine powder and breaded chicken breasts with them. way better than shake n bake.

Pistachios are also a seed. They are in the same family as cashews, along with mangos and poison ivy.

A plant you don't want to come in contact with - it causes a bad allergic reaction in most people. Severe itching, blisters, etc.
