I think Dusty Hanshaw might have posted a video of these a while back, but I can't find it now. It's a good back thickness exercise, not too unlike a rack pull but I feel it more in my lats and less in my traps. I kind of round my lats over at the bottom and pull with my midback.

Today was my first time doing them, I did 4 plates a side for 10 reps then 5 plates a side for 7 reps.

Give it a try if you have access to one of these machines and are looking for something new to try.

My only concern with this exercise on this would be too much on my shoulders. Did this effect yours any?
 
Wow...never thought of using it for that purpose! Makes sense...I'll give it a shot on my next back day!

You know, I tried them after I saw Dusty and Dante doing them in that photo shoot and I had trouble getting in there to grab the lower handles. By that I mean I couldnt get my arms in there without them being at a weird angle because of the top handles. In my mind it seemed that if tried and stand up with that top handle where it was i was going to break my arms. Maybe I was standing or gripping wrong?
 
Wasnt dusty some sort of row? Does have a picture or video of this?

that looks like it completely isolates lower and middle back!

Shelby - you need to be careful with that slow negative and focus on form. You could potentially have the side effects Brad has with his back getting to huge.

You might want to just drop the weight and bounce it off the bottom, and then yell really loud when you are holding it at the top. That way your back won't grow so fast, but you'll develop some good friendships with the staff at the gym.

Sometimes it's little simple things like that, that completely pass me by.
