Assuming you're using a PC, Winamp supports iPod. I believe MusicMatch also does but the good version of that is $20 while the free version is useless.
You can use your iPod as a removable storage device (**broken link removed**, which will allow you to copy files from your PC to iPod using Windows Explorer then back to a different PC.
The only way that I'm aware of to transfer music from one iPod to another directly is 3rd party software. I ran a Google using using the search string "transfer music ipod to ipod" and it came up with a lot of different software providers. As for which ones are virus free or whatever I don't know. I'd just do the storage device method though since you don't need any additional software.
plug your ipod in to the computer that you wanna load files to
go to my computer and open up where the ipod is.
pretty simple really.
Just drag and drop files from where they are in the ipod to where you wanna store them on a different computer.
After that just plug in the different ipod and sync the files to the ipod.
The itunes software allows you to store the library to different ipods in the same program if you want to do it that way. You can set it up to automaticlly sync or you can manually load the songs you want
for some reasons i cant see the ipod as an external disk and drag and drop songs in to it like i can on other mp3 players...i wanted to copy this guys ipod its loaded with great workout music and its all organised and stuff in to volumes its great...it would be such a pain in the ass to copy it all and sort like he did...oh well i guess ill plug in my ipod to his comp but next time i want to "sync" my ipod it will erase all the songs not import them?...alex
It needs to be formatted as a removable drive to show up for drag and drop functionality. The iPod software should have an option to do this. Keep in mind that you will lose all the current music on it when you do this. Then after you get the songs transferred from your iPod to your PC you'll reformat it again as an mp3 player.
