quad/ham routine
here is an intense quad/ham training session taken from her sight. She ain't no joke!! she has paid her dues.
today was legs. My favorite!
I dont get to train legs that often though, because they respond very rapidly. Throughout all my career Ive tried to tone them down. Just riding my bicycle gives me an incredible pump in my quads! Unbelievable huh? Godsgiven genetics.
Well, today it was legs. My trainingpartner had been begging me for weeks to train legs with him, because he really needs some size there. So, I thought: "Ill give him a workout he never forgets!"
We started out with 2-3 sets of legextensions - just for a light warm-up.
Then we moved on to my all-time favorite exercise!!
FREE SQUATS!
Actually free squats was also Tom Platz´ favorite exercise. Im quite proud, when I worked out at Golds´ in october(see the new photos on the mainsite)an older guy came up to me, he said, that he used to be the trainingpartner of Tom Platz and I was definitely the female version of Tom. I call that a nice compliment!
1st set: 132pounds(warm-up)
2nd set: 220(warm-up)
3rd: 308
4th: 352
5th 396 for 10 reps
6th 418 for 8 reps
7th 440 for 6 reps!!!!
When I squatted 440 pounds I can guarantee you, there was silence in the gym, you could hear a needle hit the floor - and a few jaws!
It was my all-time record today. I just had one of these days where you you just feel strong - really strong. I felt like an energy-pack, I just wanted to push those weights! I was focused, agressive and motivated.
Now the legs were heated up!
Just right for some heavy legpresses.
We started out with 10 plates(45 pounds each)
14 plates 13 reps
18 plates 10reps
21 plates 945pounds!! 7 reps
Next was Hacksquats.
After all the heavy training we just put on 132 pounds and did as many *"killer" reps as possible.
*"killer" reps are performed in a very slowly mannor.( both on the way up and on the descend. )The pace is the same throughout the set. No pausing at the bottom or top! and no lock-out of the knees.
Its a KILLER!
Next was Lying legextensions.
1st set: 88 pounds
2nd: 110
3rd: 132
Last exercise was stiff-legged deadlifts with dumbells.
1st: 71pounds(each dumbell)
2nd: 84
3rd: 88
4th: 93
Now the legs were WASTED!!!!
Usually I dont do quads and hamstrings on the same day, but since I felt that I had the energy for it, I went for it. Whenever I have some days that are especially good trainingswise I will use that opportunity to train very basic exercises with heavy weights and high volume.
Another great workout was finished! Time to go home and rest.
