Fantastic dogs. (I have 2 other dogs, 2 cats and 2 kids) Just try to find one with good hips. On Tuesday my Rott is going in for ACL replacement. This will be by 6th orthopedic procedure between all dogs. I never got a puppy. I always went the Rott rescue route - there are too many great adult rotts that need homes. Give that some thought. It's a good deed.
These are buy far the most beautiful dogs out there and very loyal...I have had two of them and the most recent one passed away at the Vet back in the fall , they are devoted to their master and very loving with kids and family members in general. I NEVER had a problem with either one. Was looking into getting another one until the good lord put the lost puppy pitbull into my hands.
I had a beautiful Rott that was 130 pounds of pure teddy bear. He wouldn't hurt a fly unless he felt my son was threatened in any way. He actually brought a live baby rabbit into the house one day and dropped it in my lap. Very wet and covered with saliva but unharmed.
My rott - who is a big mush, catches rabbits in the back yard and EATS them. Absolutely not a trace of the rabbit is left. My Pug once attacked the Rott to try and get at part of a Rabbit. It was the funniest animal thing I ever saw. The Rott grabbed the rabbit and ran off. LOL
We got Damien due to his fondness for fresh killed chickens...lived next door to a chicken house! So now he is behind our six foot fence and motorized gates. Damien is now "in the pen."
I am so happy!
...no break ins, no tresspassers, no nothing!
