I work from home and have a new lap top but an older desk top. I had the wonderful idea of downloading IE 8 to upgrade from IE 7 on it.

WRONG SONG! I use an outside access to microsoft outlook to get into my business email, files, a VPN etc.

In the outside access, once I dl'd IE 8, I would type and a couple letters would come up then freeze, took several minutes to see what I had typed, just a pain. Several other people had the same problem.

Thanks to Mo Chuisle (Thanks Baby T:)), she helped me remove IE 8 by adding Mozilla Firefox as my internet access, then load IE 7 again.

Just wanted to thank her for being so awesome and let others know if you have an older desk top and have done the same thing, that might be the problem.

I love IE8. Pushed it to 2600 desktops so far with a less than 1% problem rate. Sometimes addon's such as toolbars, etc cause problems on new installations of any IE. Also, the handles that your Antivirus uses might be the cause of IE hanging. There are so many variables that could cause such a problem, especially with the new security model that IE has implemented that to take an uneducated guess and blame it on IE itself without further diagnosis makes no sense really.

Thanks for the feedback Kaiser. I love it on my laptop, but my older desk pc just doesn't jive well with it. IE7 works slick on it.

add-ons are the biggest problem and are the reason why my company has not pushed it. Until we get the bugs out we won't push it....I am one of the testers and some applications that are company specific will not work and I am still trying a workoround....company does not have interest in any open source software they say.....but then why did our servers all go from eithe Win 2000 or UNIX to Linux??? HMM??

A lot of the above is all a foreign language to me unfortunately as i just havnt got up to speed with computers as i should.

Anyway my PC uses Internet Explorer 7 and in the main it seemed ok. The PC would freeze occasionally or not load a page etc, but i wouldnt know what caused this, ie IE or not.

It flashed up to upgrade to IE8 and me being me thought that was the logical thing to do..... It appears not, as now my PC almost daily freezes and ive to shut it down and restart it. If i tried to open a new tab, it regularly doesnt......Im thinking this is a mistake.

So does anyone have any suggestions/advice on what to do??? Im assuming its the IE thats my issue...

I did try to remove it once and i caused a whole lot of issues, and couldnt gain access to the internet. Through luck more than anything as ive no real idea what i done, i got the computer running again but still have the same issues regularly

Cheers, but what do i actually do with it and what anout IE8 being installed, it doesnt seem simple to remove as i found out last time????

i used to use ie but now i run firefox, i think its way better. faster deletes history after you close the browser and you can config the hell out of it, plus cool skins and such
