So I know I need to work on my LDL level....what should I do to try and improve this number?

RDW in my CBC said high...what does this mean?

Test is at 501...higher than I thought but still lots of room to improve that means till I get to 1000 ng/dL or so.

Any other things to be concerned with?

You could try

To lower your LDL by staying consistent with your cardio, maybe a little niacin too, but clear that with your Dr. first.

"Flush free" will not help, as it is not niacin.
Time released is the best. Make sure you are diligent in monitoring your
liver enzymes as they may get elevated with this type of therapy.

Thanks for the tip...I will check out the Niacin.

Flush or flush free?

I will def be getting blood drawn on a pretty regular basis.

If the liver enzymes move in the wrong direction what would I take to offset that problem then?

regular old nicotinic acid. No flush free stuff.

Also check out the post by MassiveG regarding vitamin D3, could also be very helpfull.

Do you have insurance?
Best thing to do is consult with your physician, get a Rx (yes, they prescribe Niacin) and then let them monitor your bloodwork and titrate your doses!

RDW = red blood cell distribution width.
Means that there is more variation in size between each of your red blood cell. A lower number would mean that basicall all RBC are of same size and higher number mens more variation. It usually shows RBC pathologies, such as certain types of anemias..if i remember right.
