Here are a few shots with the new camera. Nikon D80 w/ 18-55mm VR lens and 70-300mm VR lens. Just playing around with it to get a feel for it.
With the 70-300mm VR lens. Middle of the day

HAHA, the all famouse Arnold Post Workout cheesecake.

Nice camera OldFella!

Great shots big D, keep 'em coming!

i also have a d 80 and love it, go try out the 18 - 200mm VR lens you will not be disappointed at all

Great shots OF!! Yes! Keep those coming I always enjoy these.

AND! I believe I see TWO pieces of half eaten cheesecake there! ;)

Well, I am jealous. My camera is four or five years old, antideluvian by todays standards.

LOL @ the post workout meal!! that's priceless.

is that the camera you're going to use for our photo shoot for the biker mag when i finally make my way over yonder? :D (i'm plotting ways to make it all business expenses...which, of course, it will be)

Nice choice. I've been practicing a bit with a D50, but plan to get the D80 before the end of the year. Everything i've read says it is a fantastic camera.

I have read the write-ups regardng this lens. I would have gone with that but this was sold as a kit and I could not refuse it. The new VR lenses are a must!! Great innovation.

Yes there are 2 pieces there. My triaining partner is damaging one of them and the photographer is putting the hurts to other.

If you upgrade I can recommend the Nikons, really great cameras and easy to use.

Yes I will use this one for the shoot. I have a bike and tatt show coming up the end of august and will be shooting that I will then do the story for it also. OZ Biker Magazine is who I shoot and write for so We will probably put you in there. Get you some exposure down under baby!!:D

CB, get the D80.I have been shooting with the D70s and it is a great camera, but the improvements in this D80 are incredible. Buy the VR (vibration reduction) lenses to go with it and you will not believe how much improved your shots can be. I am very happy with this camera. The next one up from it is the D200 professional body, at around 6 grand it was not an option. This is the model that a lot of pros use because it is feature packed and easy to carry around.

Cheese cake rules! hahaha

oh yeah, nice camera OF.... :D

Wow Oldfella, didn't know you did work for OZ Biker Magazine too!! You must be one busy ass O.F.:), with owning the gym and everything else bro...You're truly an inspiration my friend!! Can't wait to see the great transition pics., espeacially with the new camera and when you're all set buddy!!!

HAHAHAHA Yes I do free lance work for these guys (OZ Biker). Just for something different. I like photography and I can write when I want to so I figured I might as well get paid for it too! The gigs are fun to cover and I put the bike clubs into a positive light when I cover their shows. SOme real characters at these shows.

Those are great pics! Thanks for sharing!

Has anyone tried the D40x or the Canon XS or XSi?

No, but I have the Canon SX100IS and love it, wonder why I got that camera .. hmmmmmm .. must have been on the advice of a professional:p

I chose Nikon for the build quality. A little more rugged than canon. I like the features of the D80 which at the moment is leading canon on features for price. Having said that canon makes a damn fine camera and there really is not much in it between the two. I am familiar with Nikon so that was part of the influence in my choice.

The D200 has now been replaced with the D300 but the body is 1800 not 6k. If you went up to the D3 that is the real high end model that sits around 5500 i believe. I bought the d300 body and used it for a few days but i returned it as i felt that the d80 did everything that i needed and my photography skills are not all that great. The d80 still has the fully auto feature but you give all that up going to the d300 and i just couldnt get my pics right

The D60 is the new version of the D40x. Don't know much about the XS, but i've read that the Canon XSi is similar to the Nikon D60 for features and quality. I know the D50 works great. I got some great pics of my wife after the Jr. USA's. Nikon makes some great cameras

Cool photos, Oldfella!!!

I'm just not very good at take photos, but unlike my mother... at least I don't cut peoples heads off. lol
