Whats up guys i am a competitior in the NPC. I took the last year off to try to put on size. I feel as though i may not have the best genetics and ended up being a victim of overeating. My waist has grown alot. My big weak point is deff my legs. I hit them hard, i just didnt train them enough when i first started so just trying to play catch up. I am 6 foot 280lbs here let me know what you think. i will start dieting in about 2 weeks for the NPC New Englands in May. I will have plenty of time to lose that fat. I have never had a hard time dieting (was always ripped as a kid). Just need more size. Try not to beat me up to bad belive it or not i put alot of work into this my diet is perfect all year (just a lil to much calories i think) and i train hard as hell. let me know what ya think...
By the way i am 22yrs old this year.

Don't be so hard on yourself brother. You look fine for offseason! It happens, we all gain a little around the middle, its just the way it is for a lot of us! You look like you store it primarily in your love handles.... That is the same with me (and my ass)...
So long as you can diet right, you will be totally fine. Traps look big (is that youtr strong point on stage?)
Abs look strong under that little bf....
Keep up the hard work! You look great!
 
You look great bro. Who cares what kind of fat you have off-season, as long as you come in dailed in come the contest. Definitely got some size to ya. But like you said legs need quite a bit of work. But you've idenifyied the problem, now you just gotta get a plan of attack.

You're good, no excess fat as you said and yes you have more than enough time to burn the lard and come tight.

You look fine bro, yes a little too much bf but it aint bad. many peeps overlook the importance of going back to basiscs for adding mass. Like the big three. i still agree that nothing will pack on leg mass like the good old fashioned squat. Deadlift for that overall knarly look of thickness and bench work for chest. Throw in some other moves for arms and shoulders and hit the calves hard. That is all you need for mass. As long as you are eating to gain solid mass. protein needs to be very high and carbs medium to low. Good fats are a must. You do not need 10,000 cals a day to add mas. you can add mass while dropping fat. No need to overdo it. Just find what works as far as cals go and adjust them up each week as long as you are not gaining any fat.

abs are still there.. the bf might be a little high but, nothing really out of line.. as far as not having good genetics.. i think you underestimate yourself.. your genes are not bad at all.. keep it up..:cool:
 
Thanks alot guys. The posotive feedback helps out alot. I have been kinda depressed about the way i look lately. Like i said i have always been ripped and really needed to put on some size. think i went a lil overboard. I am pretty sure dieting down wont be a problem. i can lose weight like nothing. Although i am going to take my time dieting this year (16weeks as apossed to 10 weeks in the past) to try to keep some size. i would kill myself it i lost it all again and came in at 215lbs again. take a look at my last show in 2006 to see the difference...

again, i think that your bf is not bad.. sometimes ya have to do it to get the size.. but, you are not out of line.. those backstage shots look good.. lots of potential..:cool:
 
lots of potential for sure bro. You are young and have tons of time to pack on the mass you want. But lets not kid ourselves, youre 280, thats huge! You look good man, just keep hittin the iron, and eating lots of high quality food and soak yourself in the knowledge on this board. Best of luck to you and keep us updated!

thanks again to everyone for the great feedback. It really helps out you all know being a bodybuilder we are our own worst critics. The average person doesnt ever understand.

Now my diet really is pretty clean all year. I pretty much eat the same thing everyday, just slightly different variations.i try to eat atleast 7 meals a day including shakes sometimes 8 consisting of as follows
Meal#1 weight gainer shaker 54grams or protein and 75carbs
Meal#2 8eggs and a whole wheat bagel
Meal#3 8oz chicken 1 cup of rice
Meal#4 8oz chicken small baked potatoe
Meal#5 postworkout shake 54grams protein 125carbs
Meal#6 8oz steak 4oz pasta
Meal#7 shake 50grams protein like2 carbs

Now belive it or not it is the same every day. sometimes i eat chicken late and steak early. I flip the protein sources around for whatever is available. The same with the carbs it is always either 1 cup white rice,baked potatoe,or 4oz pasta. which ever 1 is available at the time. Now to me thats seems like a pretty clean offseason diet maybe a lil to much carbs.I just cant put on any weight without them. So this is where i am ...

P.S just got home from the gym. I read your posts before i left and it helped me get through an awesome leg workout not even any knee pain!!!! i feel great thanks again guys i want this really bad and the only thing that i feel can stop me is possibly my genes because i have no control of which. I do everything i can 110% in hopes to one day go pro.

YOU GOT WAY TOO HEAVY. NEXT TIME DO NOT CREATE ALL THAT EXTRA WORK FOR YOURSELF. YOU LOOK GREAT LEANER BUT YOU STILL NEED TO LOSE IN YOUR HAMSTRINGS AND GLUTES. IF YOU CONTINUE TO KEEP GETTING THIS HEAVY OFF SEASON YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO LOOK "CRISP" COME CONTEST TIME. REMEMBER , LOOSE SKIN LOOKS HORRIBLE. YOU STRETCH YOUR SKIN OUT TOO MUCH AND IT WILL NEVER COME BACK AND YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT GOING ON A STAGE.

Thank You for the response. I have a great deal of respect for you and your opinion do to the fact that you have accomplished alot of the things that i have dreamed of acheiving. I deff agree i got a little out of hand this year. I have always been too small. Every show that i have done everyone continues to tell me i need more size. All i wanted was to gain some size this year and unfortunately played the scale game. i am starting my diet this Sunday with 16 weeks of prep. I think i have plenty of time to get my ass in shape and in the future i will not let myself get so fat. I guess i am young and have learned a valuable lesson early enough in my life to be smarter next time around. I really put alot of effort into this sport and have to realize what is important and it certainly isnt how much you weigh. Thank you for your post i will keep your advice in mind through my future preperation.

Thank you. I really appreciate the posotive feedback while dieting. Looking to make some big changes in the next two weeks i am increasing my cardio slightly and the diet usually starts showing about 4 weeks in...
 
That's much better. You are doing a good job with the diet. Just hammer those legs to get them up more. But you are on the right track with your diet.
