Hey guys whats up. Im one day out from my show and i need some advise. These pics were taken at 6 am this morning on an empty stomach, at which time i weighed 180lbs.....im trying to make middles, so my question is, do you think the use of a diuretic is neccesary for me to make weight. Since taking the pics, ive been chugging water like a mad man, and am getter drier and drier. If anyone is interested, Hella Swole helped me with my entire prep, and he too is interested to see what kind of response to this question i will get. Thanks!!!

Well if I were doing my own prep and I wanted to drop some pounds to make weight i would take a diauretic...You are chugging water anyways so something like thiazide should help you out...but if you are just drinking a lot water I dont see how that will get you down to middles...

Stop chugging down the water and just sip it from now on. If you are drying out now a dieuretic will tip yopu over the edge. By just sippimng not chugging down your water now the body will still let go of the last bit of excess it's holding. it takes aprox 24 hrs for your body to realize that your water intake has dropped drastically. So just take 1 liter of water and make this last for 24 hours. I do not use dieuretics, never needed to. Just use water.

The one in the black trunks form the rear are from pre-juding...we didn't have him quite as tight as we would have liked for pre-juding due to trying to make the middleweight cut-off (he weighed in at 177, but they still let him in) although I think he was pretty dead on for the night show.

The one in the black trunks form the rear are from pre-juding...we didn't have him quite as tight as we would have liked for pre-juding due to trying to make the middleweight cut-off (he weighed in at 177, but they still let him in) although I think he was pretty dead on for the night show.

Its all good Hella....dont worry about it. Ive already gotten over it (well, kinda....LOL), and will use my placing as motivation for the future. We did a hell of a job together, and now we know how to get it dead on for next time!

He looks nice and tight to me. I think there was a huge difference from the first set of pics compared to the comp. pics. Good job to both you guys.
 
My only thought on this and being that it is late, would be why would you be chugging water if you were trying to dry out, my pre-day's (2 days out) has always been cut the water out, sip it periodically throught out the day as to not dehydrate, and i eat hadfulls of shredded wheat (not frosted), no sodium, they have worked for me as im carb loading and they act like little sponges and suck the water out of my skin and into my muscles, this has always worked pretty good for me, but this is just me .02$

Don't get me wrong, we had him shredded, his glutes were feathered the whole time, he just had a little trouble spot in his abs where he was holding a little water still in the morning causing the abs to be a tiny bit smooth. As you could see he was still pretty damn hard from the back. BY night time he was dead on. Let me say that Uconish busted his butt for this show. His body was fighting against us a little bit toward the end to drop that last little bit off so I had to bust his ass pretty good and he had no trouble putting his nose to the grindstone.

Well, first off all, "there is more than one way to skin a cat". Having said that, I am a firm believer in keeping water levels VERY high leading up to the show and keeping water in as long as possible. In doing so, you keep aldosterone levels (your body's own natural anti-diuretic hormone which controls water and sodium balance/retention in the body) very low. If you control your water right you can actually take in a measured amount of water and you end up excreting that exact amount of fluid very quickly afterwards, along with even a few more extra ounces of fluid...yes I Have actually measured my urine volume LOL. This obviously means that the body is getting rid of internal water being held in thebody (like under the skin) and you are drying out. I then ABRUPTLY cut water which causes the body to keep excreting fluids (due to the suppressed aldosterone levels) and you being drying out even further. It seems that the body takes about 24-36 hours before it "realizes" that it is being deprived of water in which case your body raises its aldosterone levels back up and causes you to hold water again (this is why many get very bloated and full after a show). But by the time your body realizes this and you turn into the Michelin man, it will be Sunday afternoon/evening and you are already making your 3rd trip to the local crispy creme...with your trophy in hand of course! LOL

Sodium and carbs obviously come into play to help complement this effect, but that is the gist of it, at least fromt eh standpoint of water intake.

This was the point I made earlier in this thread. You drink ungodly amounts of water for two weeks before your show, lets say for example 12 liters a day. The 24hrs before stage time you cut back to one liter for that time frame. As you sip your water you will piss out buckets of water. No dieuretic needed. You can get away with this for 24hrs and then your body's alarm goes off. if you do not start drinking after this period you will have dehydration issues to deal with. it is a matter of timing. But 24hrs is a general good rule to go by.
He looked damn good and dry also. But still had a nice healthy look. Not too depleted. Good job!! Just fine tune next time.

Thank You! No, this was my second show. I placed the same in both shows, but the difference in my body from the first show compared to this second show is like night and day. Hella did a great job!
