ok.. this is not a rant.. but, a venting..lol.. i have been to numerous chiropractors and sports med folks over the years.. i have had a little hip pain and suffer from some scoliosis.. nothing real noticable but, have always used dumbells to make sure the stress of most movements is spread equally because of my scoliosis.. barbell movements just did not feel right ect.. never held me back.. just adapted to it.. anyway.. lately i have been having some shoulder pain.. i have also noticed that my right shoulder is rolling forward a bit when i stand relaxed.. just off.. and it is hurting on certain movements.. i figured my rotators were weak and started working them lately..
now for years.. i have wore a lift.. a heel lift to be exact.. becuase of a leg length difference and to help with the scoliosis.. many of you remember my aweful visit to the foot doctor where he basically made me his bitch by shoving a needle in my heel.. now, i go back to this guy and he starts to look at my foot again because i am having pain.. he starts asking me questions about if i have pain here and there and if i have some postural problems ect.. (he has never seen my heel lifts or anything..) i said yes.. he said that my one foot is off and i have pronated foot on my right side.. and no arch.. he said i was probably born with it and it is pretty common but, me , being a lifter, might notice problems more than the average guy.. he belived that most of my structural problems and posture problems were because of my foot..
i kinda blew him off.. he said that i need orthodics.. he said they cost 400.00 dollars ect.. i said no way.. he said he believed it would help ect.. i said no way am i spending that.. ect.. he said " ill make ya a deal.. it costs me 100 dollars for the orthodics and the testing.. ill give them to ya for my cost..".. now.. i really trust this guy.. especially since he knew about my problems just by examining my feet.. i said "ok".. it has been a while since i have had them.. LET ME TELL YA..WOW.. WHAT A DIFFERENCE.. at first i said to him "these dont feel right".. he laughed and said" well of course not.. you are actually walking right .. after 40 years of walking wrong.. its gonna feel different.." he told me to throw away my heel lift.. i was a little worried about that.. but, he showed me it was my feet that made my pelvis uneven.. causing my leg length difference..not my leg length.. i have been lifting in them and the difference in stability is amazing.. he also said that i would notice some pain in my hips and back from the new stresses and the muscle trying to adapt.. and he is right but, it is wroth it..
i tell ya.. it made a big difference for me.. i would galdly pay the 400 knowing what i know now.. after all the doctors visits over the years and no one once checked my feet..oh well.. better late than never.. i highly recommend them to all people in sports and lifting.. money well spent..;)

Lats, was that a podiatrist?

Sounds like EXACTLY what I need.

pm me, maybe he can recommend someone in my area

I got mine from Podiatry and Sports Center Ltd, in Roselle, Illinois (phone # 630-529-6634). There are two podiatrists there, David O'Brian and John Durkin. These guys worked with a former mile world record holder in track, so you know they are good!

I am very pleased with my orthotics and have been pain free for years now. Worth every penny.

YEAH BRO.. he was a podiatrist.. he took a cast of my feet.. to find the "defect" if you will.. then sent it off to be made.. from the pm you sent me , you may have different needs based on the old injury.. you may very well need orthodics and a lift.. dont know.. but, the podiatrist can incorporate the lift size into the orthodics.. diffintely go to a podiatrist in your area and get his opinion.. well worth it.. it is funny.. i am sore in certain back muscles from just walking in them all day.. they are diffintely helping.. pm if ya have any more questions..;)

HAHHA..

One of the funniest stories of all times hands down. :)

So how exactly do you wear these things? how often? Do you wear them WHILE you lift? And how are you adapting?

MAN!

With the back pains and stiffness I wake up with every morning, I'm sure I could benefit from something like this! For about 2 years now my feet feel most sore in the morning and gradually get better as the day goes on, but then gets right back to sore the next morn and so on. I can't remember the last time my back felt like it wasn't stiff or getting ready to "go out" on me. I really wonder how much this could have to do with me possibly needing an orthodics?

I've tried a couple of the ones over the years that you see the infomercials about and they helped some.

I'm betting that the professionally made ones make a huge difference though.

Brooklyn, you wear them all of the time. It will take your feet awhile to get use to them though, a few days. You will be sore as heck until then I'm betting. But once your feet and rest of the body adapt, should be much better.

I'm going to have to break down and try to get it done.
