Pulled my back deadlifting how long should i take rest?

Well i already had a little bit of backpain but foolish as i am i thought it could do no harm deadlifting anyway. So i deadlifted and a pulled a new PR but pulled my back. Now i have these aches in my back all the time and i can hardly bent forward without hurting myself. Even sitting down hurts my back. How long do you guys advice for me to give my back rest before hitting the gym again? I was thinking giving it a week rest and see how i feel then.
 
i got kinda the same injury doing heavy barbell rows. I did my second set of 315lbs and felt something pull in my lower back. It took me about 1 month of just resting it...i did cardio so i didn't get fat but that was it. It's been about 7 months since i injured it and I still can't barbell squat heavy weight. So...i would rest till you feel completely better and don't try to rush it. You may hurt yourself trying to train throught he pain (as i was tought) or not letting it heal enough. I ce packs to help the swelling but after a week...i'd use warm packs to help your back relax. Also start taking asprin to help with the swelling.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to see a doctor and see what you actually did hurt. Deep tissue massages helped me as well.
 
Visit a chiro and a few massages will help speed up healing time. sometimes a few day some times few mounth thats why i stick with reps and good form and no heavy singles for me. Atleast for deadlifts
 
Take a short break for a week or two and visit a ciro. Then go back and train around your injury with light weights. Try to use movements that avoide pain in that area.

totally agree, especially the last part,avoid movements that stress the lower back, no squats, heavy rowes, heavy barbell curls, of course no deadlifts, don't screw around with this and try to be superman. If your on any orals like dbol or a'bombs maybe discontinue for a while.
 
thanks for the tips guys. I hope i dont need a months rest :eek: . That would suck. It actually feels a bit better then yesterday so i hope a week rest is enough we will see.
 
In two weeks time you'll be like new!
