If this is a dumb question, please don't give me any shit. Yes, I've tried Google.

I usually do about 30 minutes of cardio. By the time I get to about 10 minutes in, I get extremely sleepy... not just tired, but like heavy eyes sleepy.

I keep water with me and I keep a check on the heart rate thing and that's always within normal range. It lasts for about 3-4 minutes and then I just push through the rest of my session just fine.

It happens almost every time... does anyone else get this? I'm more curious than I am concerned. Weird.

Randa,

Are you on a new schedule? Is this routine of yours new? If so you may not be adjusted yet.

Other than that I dont know what to tell you other than keep pushing threw it an try not to focus on it.

No, not really a brand new routine. My energy level sucks, in general. Just about any given time during the day, I could take a nap.

This, though, is almost like a faint feeling because it's so quick to come on, but doesn't last very long. It's just strange that it happens during cardio... right around the same time.

Who knows... maybe it's my lazy switch trying to come on.

Have you had bloodwork done?

No, not recently.

I have PCOS, so my sugar has been just a little high before, but by the time I have my follow up, it's fine again.

What is your diet like ?

What do you eat prior to cardio ?

It's usually at night, so well past dinner... which has not been consistent enough for me to know. Just this last week have I been keeping track of calories and such... mainly trying to up protein.

I think it's just because cardio is so damn boring I've had to give it up for this reason

Blood sugar related possibly?

Exactly! I stay so busy and I have a horrible attention span anyway that I'll be ready to stop well before I get tired just because I'm bored. After a few minutes, I either want to sleep or get other shit done.

I do a lot of counting... like the little progress bars on the screen... just to somewhat feel like I'm accomplishing something. Lame!

Blood sugar related possibly?

Quite possibly. That ties in a lot with PCOS, but the only times mine has been a little high, it's fine by the time I have a follow up visit.

My doctors all say that I'm extremely healthy for having it. I'm considered "Lean PCOS"... mainly because I'm not a hundred pounds overweight, diabetic, and/or shaving my face... yet. :/

low blood sugar maybe. Happened to me when i was on a strict diet. Got blood test done and that was the cause ( of course i thought it was low test or some other crazier shit)

Do you take anything for PCOS? Metformin or any other type of anti-androgen? It's known that PCOS increases your chances of developing OSA, have you been screened for Sleep Apnea?

How's your menstrual cycle? Heavy for a short period?

Wow. You know your stuff, huh? :)

Metformin makes me sick. I used to take it with birth control, but birth control makes me have a period and probably TMI, but since you asked... when I do, it's like a murder scene for weeks! Horrible. I feel like shit. I'm pale, fatigued, bloated. I've always had problems with it.

Ex-husband got me out of the shower almost passed out from all the blood, took me to the ER. I had to have a DNC where they tested for cancer, but all that came back was low progesterone. They gave me Prometrium for that.

I was on medicine on/off for years, but rebelliously quit taking everything. I haven't had a period in 11 months. Probably not a good thing...

I'm definitely not pregnant, but I take a prenatal vitamin as per my old fertility specialist's advice.

Sounds bad, but I know some girls with PCOS that are extremely overweight, have to shave their faces, and have already become diabetic because of it. My doctors have told me that I'm pretty well off in comparison.

I've never been tested for Sleep Apnea... never even crossed my mind.

I'd like too introduce you too Dr.Jeffrey Dach, without a doubt probably one of the most
in depth articles written about PCOS, or at least that I've came across. It's been months since I've read this particular article, I can't quite remember if he speaks about OSA?

Regardless,OSA may be something to considered in regards too you feeling sluggish or tired during your cardio session, inadvertently low serum Iron and Ferritin levels will also cause one too experience fatigue/tired feeling during exercise, as both are transporters of oxygen, this would be why I asked if your periods were heavy... hence loss of both of these crucial elements, which will reflectively effect other hormone secretion, Cortisol, Thyroid ect.

If you have time this is a very informative read Understanding PCOS, the Hidden Epidemic by Jeffrey Dach, M.D.

Assuming your Prenatal vitamin has Iron in it? No Period for 11 months,PCOS, you may want too have your Hemoglobin/Hematocrit, Iron and Iron Saturation %, Ferritin levels checked as there might be a possibility these may be elevated? Another possible cause too you feeling tired?

Wow. What a great read. I have a few books at home, but over the years just got tired of looking at them. Ultimately, I know my shit is jacked up.

Thanks for taking the time to post it. It all makes sense... really.

The prenatal vitamins actually make me feel nauseous, too. That's why I take them at night, right before bed, so I can kind of sleep through it. I've just recently started getting consistent with them.

I guess I need to get my ass to the doctor for some blood work. It's been a while anyway.

Sleep? Pssh. My sleeping patterns suck! None during the week, too much on the weekends. Most days, I'm a walking zombie.
