ive been in the military for a few years now and ive always been a decent performer. ive been planning on trying out for Special Forces within the near future and for some reason ever since ive made up my mind to go. ive lost my focus in the gym, with cardio, and anything health related. i dunno if its a mental block or what. but for some reason, i all of a sudden have lost the drive to succeed.

anyone have any tips to get that spark back? because i need to be hopping and popping reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally soon.

Thats a tough one. Ive been in the slump and tried doing everything from reading books, watching video's, etc. The only thing that helps me is having a goal that i REALLY want, otherwise its like the person who wants to lose weight but doesn't have the drive.

Best guess, surround yourself right now with other motivated individuals and hopefully they'll rub off on you. Its mental game at this point.

Dead on, I agree! Thats what helps pull me out, the extra nudge from a bud when losing sight.

sounds like you are overtrained to me, maybe, ironically, taking 1-2 weeks off of EVERYTHING might be the best way to get your fight back

Sit down and REALLY imagine your goal. Imagine yourself as a Special Forces operative- in uniform, carrying a specific weapon, training in a specifc area, with specific tactics, etc. Imagine how you will FEEL once you accomplish this task- the pride, joy, honor, respect. Remember, you will have joined the ranks of our nations elite!! You will be the inspiration for all young recruits.

Get excited!! Write down your objectives or goals and immediately begin planning. Find your drive and execute. BE GREAT! BE PROUD! BE EXTRAORDINARY! Let nothing hold you back...Wake up tomorrow telling yourself, "Today, I am. Today, I will."

I am excited for you. Get it done!

Don't really know what one has to do with the other but you should sit down and examine your priorities. You don't have to train in the gym and bodybuild to go SF - in some cases, it might even be counter productive. SF "fit" is one thing "jacked" is another. Of course, training to be fit for "q" course could only be a good thing. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I just completed my enlistment a few months ago, AF Special Forces. I hope you know your going to have to give up any size you have. I was able to get some good size every once in a while, but you will ALWAYS be training, all year round'. If your not training, your on a mission and are somewhere were you can not train or eat well at all. I was the only Body Builder I know in my profession, and it is near impossible to be successful in both fields, at the same time. Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Whatever you do don't tell anyone your on Seal Team 6. It seems everyone and their mother is on Seal Team 6.

To try out for Recon and SF, you will be doing ALOT of running. Forget size and concentrate on endurance. Endurance and mental tolerance is the name of the game in Recon and SF training. Just get your endurance and mind in the game and you will do fine. Good Luck

I have to agree with Platestacker, serving 20 yrs in the AF and 3 tours to the desert you will have NO time for personal time at first due to your strict training in school which will last about a year, then after school your training will still continue, set your goals on you job and only your job and all will come into place. Keep us posted and Good Luck!
