Hope all is well folks..

I spent this weekend up north at the NPC San Francisco supporting one of our members Tomer "Tazz" Tal ... as he took 1st out of 15 in the Novice middleweight and First in the masters over 40 class..

Tazz... contacted me a while back about working his prep and helping him dial in for this show... He really surpassed my expectations of him as he smoked the huge novice middle Class... Also taking first in the masters over 40 and 3rd in the open Light heavy..

We are starting an off season plan today... and I will have more than just a few weeks to prep him for his next show.. this coming year..

Keep an eye out for Tomer.. He is super nice guy, a great member here and worked his ass off for this show..

I predict a bigger, better and harder showing next year!

Dont let age stop you guys... this is more proof that a masters competitor can more than hold his own against the youngsters in the shows..

Great job! Congrats Tomer!

He looks great!

Great job Tazz.....and Alex.

Way to go Tazz!!! Hope Alex can have me looking that good for my contest!!

thanks everyone.... and Next year will be a whole different story...... as our plan for next years show started today..

I just met the guy at the show and helped him for 2 weeks... The last 2 weeks are tough but... honestly...

my opinion, your off season really sets the tone for you how you look on stage in a very important way.... Plus i will have my hands on the entire prep, it is getting a good start..

I thought I would chime in on this. I made a LOT of mistakes prepping for this show (prior to touching base with Alex in the last couple of weeks). In the first place, I had stopped training for 5 years and only started training again a year ago.. its tough to come back at 41. But coming into this show I was MASSIVELY overtrained and depleted and my carb up didn't go quite as expected and I was quite a bit lighter than planned. But that's life and you learn from your mistakes. I am going to be happy to have 13 months to get it together for the next show. I am looking forward to making it a productive offseason, staying lean and putting on some quality muscle... if things work out (with Alex's help of course) I hope to show up onstage next year with an improved physique (maybe some hair too ha ha)

forget about the hair.. Chrome is the new look... I would rather someone over train than not train at all, or be sloppy and lazy..

Competing is a learning process..Not a single person nails it every time..But a smart bodybuilder learns from their mistakes..

You have accepted what you did wrong and we will learn from it.. I have no doubt that you will be much improved.. Im confident in our game plan.. Also to note its not like you bombed out.. you did take home 2 first place trophies..

I wanted to tell you guys.. Tazz put out a pretty awesome posing routine.. i really would love to put that short clip up here... I was impressed... Even though he did what im against... He just went out there and winged it! but this time it worked...

The pics dont even do him as much justice.. he was really one of the better guys in the show..

You looked great, hopefully you were able to enjoy your success! Best of luck in the future!

Alex, hope we can talk again soon. Excellent job for you and Tazz. Wish Tazz the best for the future.

Hey Tazz;
i saw the show - and you def looked shredded - you deserved the win! How many weeks did you cut before the show? (Starting weigh, ending weight?)

Great job - i hope to do that show myself next year in the 50+ catagory.... BTW are you in the bay area?

Leanbody - I used to live in the bay area, now I live outside Sacramento in a small town called Auburn. I started my diet 14 weeks out but had a few mishaps along the way (being evacuated from home during auburn fire, business trips (inculding 5 days in florida)) so figure 12 weeks. If I had to do it over, I would have started a couple of weeks earlier. That would have required me to diet over the 4th of July though, and the wife and kids had strong opinions about that..
I started my diet around 215, but I certainly could have been harder at that weight. I took 5 years off though and balooned up in bodyfat during those years, so I certainly had fat to lose even though I had been hitting the weights in the year I came back.
Anyways, the week before the show I was about 188-190. I screwed up some things on my loading phase and came in pretty light - 179 on the backstage scale, but I heard from other competitors that the stage was about 3 pounds light - so figure 182 or 183.
Right now its just time to get my life back together and try to make some quality improvements for next time... sadly, no matter what we say or how we place, there is always a "next time"
