My lord they are expensive, do they charge so much because people with insurance's companies knock the price down so much. I just ran a battery of tests....$1450 dollars. Total cost to me, 23.70. Not a bad trade off, I feel bad for those without insurance.

Yeah, thats the usual. Its been that way for a long time. Crazy isnt it. Im not quite sure why it is so high but I usually pay about the same as you did.

Exactly why...when you get your "explanation of benefits" take a look at what the insurance company had the price adjusted to that they would cover...it's like half or even 1/3 price that they actually pay...so if docs/labs charged $600 for all that bloodwork then they MIGHT get $250! So they have to charge more...

I've never heard of a limit. They sort of advocate preventative medicine to save them money in the long run

Although I'm sure it varies from company to company, usually insurance will cover you if your doctor has expressed a documented need for the tests. I myself can get 6 a year which is perfect since I get one in concert with my blood donations which are every other month. My simple blood test according to my last bill was $232.46 and my cost was less than $30. Mine would be less if it was just the bloodwork stuff like hemo/hemta but I always lipid profile and some hormone stuff
