After reading Mike Arnold's articles on the Ultimate Insulin Protocol, it's update, and article on Leucine a couple thoughts have been going through my mind.
• First, is there are noticeable difference between having a shake pre/intra workout with a while food meal after vs whole food meal before and after?
• Second, up to this point I have eaten only food meals throughout the day mainly due to budget. I am thinking of adding in 3g or 4.5g to each pre and post workout whole food meals to make up for the slow digestion of the meat. I'm on a very right budget. Rice comes in 50lb bag for $17 and steak is $3lb which I have over 3 meals and it has worked well. My pre workout meal has been steak/white rice with carrots or broccoli (875cal/144carb/33pro/9fat) at 12:00pm, workout at 1pm, same meal again post workout or 3:30pm without any veggies. While I am bulking which would be now, I also include a large homemade cupcake intra workout lol (252cal/52carb/7pro/2fat). How would one best use whole foods while running slin (Novo R) pre workout?
• Third: I was thinking of using a shake pre/intra workout and a whole food meal following it as mike said in his updated Insulin Protocol article. Although it's not hydo protein, I have found a 10lb bag of whey isolate for $105 and wondering if I can just use that and if so how many grams of it is best to use? As far as carbs go, if I can just keep the white rice/cupcakes that would be great as I don’t want to shovel away for crappy dextrose if possible as if I had the extra cash I could just go with hydro protein. The main thing was that the steak takes several hours to digest and the whey would at a fraction of the time.
In any case, adding in slin pre workout (Novo R) only has positives. So far I've pinned 6,8,10,12,14,16iu right before eating at noon and felt just fine with my regular eating plan but wanted insight before making any alterations in terms of diet (taking out veggies/whole food meal all together/pinning at a better time if using whole foods/etc) from experienced users. The best threads I have read on slin have been on this site, in particle anything from Mike, so any input and guidance would be appreciated.
