our annual desert trip :)

every year, me and the guys go out on a trip to the desert. it's around 200 km away from civilization and it gives us "guys" a chance to relax and just burp and fart at will... LOL

The team leader and organizer had a very inefficient way to show us the camp site... although we had GPS, he still thought this was more accurate than coordinates


"GOD DAMN IT!!! NO FUCKING SIGNAL!!!... oh wait... never mind"


this is the latrine... for emergency use only!!!!




and this here is zippy... one of my trainees and a guy who is just as cool as fuck!!!

this guy is our foreman... actually, he's a real foreman in one of the plants... very bright young guy... anyway, he wanted to start lunch so he lit up the fire

nothing like a hole with charcoal to start cooking sheep brisket and rice

we have to start the fire for the kettle to get some tea going on to digest the food after lunch



the big guy helped out with digging a hole for the leftovers... not a very sanitary or environmentally friendly practice, but this is how we do it in the desert.



the cook and i decided to sample dessert before the main course...

lots of painful sand particles shooting like bullets from all the wind... so my friend decided "invent" something to help... he looked like those women wearing "burka" at the mall



so, i decided to disguise myself as "bobo the inmate" and rape him



I caught the cook practicing unsanitary actions... i wasn't pleased






after a lunch that big... all you see is guys laying around and hearing weird "bodily" noises

father of 50... a guy blessed with a passion for music and singing... too bad it's only passion and not a very melodic voice... it was fun though



then another one of my buddies, who also wasn't blessed with a melodic voice, joined in

night fell upon us... and it was the perfect time for TEA WITH MILK!!! i don't think you guys do this out there, but we actually boil milk with tea bags in it, and not just water and tea with condenced milk



unfortunately, that night was one of the very few nights in our country where it rained heavily... and i mean really fucking heavy, very strong winds that nearly tore down the tent, and thunder as loud as ruffles' farts!!!
needless to say, we didn't get much sleep and we were up pretty early

BREAKFAST!!! eggs and hnaini... hnaini is basically a big ass cake that has 5 trillion calories per cubic inch... it's made out of mashed dates, sugar, and vegetable fat. i don't have any pictures of it, but it's fucking delicious... you can take my word for it

trust me, bro... it's AMAZING!!! but, i'm serious when i say it has 5 trillion cals in it ... it was so good, i ate two large pieces of the cake, and my stomach hurt for days! it's that dense. you're only supposed to eat around 2 tbsp worth.
just a little history, this was what they used to eat in the old days (before discovering oil and such)... they used to work manual labor for 12-16 hours and this was basically all they had to eat (there was no food here). this provided a shit ton of calories to fuel them for work. .... and now you know

i not only live here... i'm a native ... born and raised.
no crazy stuff here... i don't even know what camel spiders are... we have a lot of fucking huge beetles here, but they're harmless... worst thing i saw was two years ago... a small snake (about 3 ft long), and a spider called a "shbitha" in arabic... i don't know what it's called in english but it's very poisonous. that's about it

I love love the desert. One of my favorite places.
Have always dreamed of going to a "real" one.
Maybe some day.
