I tore my quad like that once doing squats, sounded like a t-shirt ripping. I never did get much bruising at all. I think I got a little bit the next day, but very minimal. I think in my case I tore mostly fascia and that's what the sound was. I do have a small divot there now though.My theory is that since I tore mostly fascia there wasn't any bleeding really. Connective tissue has a really poor blood supply. Heals really slow too because of that.Yes. That sound keeps replaying in my head. It's a nasty sound. makes me wonder if I'll ever be able to bench with intensity again thinking about it. Like strands of a rope breaking.
I hope you didn't tear things too badly. You definitely tore something. When you lost strength like that in the muscle, it was trying to protect itself from more damage. Something similar to the Golgi tendon reflex kicking in.
