I will say when i did stop in one i got questioned at the front desk to why i wanted to work out there, but my gf was a member so i was her guest so they decided to "let" me in... they did have a nice locker room, far better than my Gold's Gym... Although, what made me feel uncomfortable was all the self help quotes plastered all over the walls it's clearly a place for the person with low confidence and out of shape.. The one i went to had a banner that said "you're wanted" above the water fountain..lol..

I know for a fact I could get a membership there to go do cardio and they wouldn't give a shit for even one second. All of the people that have been kicked out have been breaking the rules.

While it has been a few years back, I was told nicely at the desk of this type gym that this was probably not what I was looking for a directed me to a much better place. They did it in a way that they seemed to be helping me and they were as I was out of town and didn't know the other place.

The irony is, that now that I have heart failure, dropped 45 lbs, I could probably get a good workout there!

We're getting a PF in our town in a couple months. So the owners of Gold's here are signing people $9.99 a month, nothing down, no contract. And getting a lot more new equipment, dont mind if we deadlift, spit, grunt, sweat, etc. Bad side of it is there's a lot of fat asses joining up, hogging up the equipment, talking on phones, getting in the way, etc.

sadly, the best women are going to Crossfit

I gonna put my two cents here and say go for it with the lawsuit, what do you have to lose... realistically, there is no true civil rights violation at least going by federal guidelines, like EEOC, ADA, title IX, etc, etc.. unless you have a city county or state statute to go off of... but I'll put it this way which is pretty similar...

if burger king can be sued for making people fat or unhealthy etc and have something upeld by the court or even just the bad press to the point were it made BK change their menu, portions, ingredients, etc or even have their competition follow suit to avoid litigation or even how mc d's was sued cuz the coffee was "too" hot and the women got severe burns etc from it... of course nevermind she wasnt more cautious to begin with...

I'm sure there are plenty of other examples which are considered "frivolous" since they dont meet any clear cut criteria but none the less they exist and one way or another, I'm sure if even the courts didnt make a ruling at the very least the bad press surrounding it effected some kind of change...

2 big guys from our gym did just that, cause the women were hot. within a month, one had a complete tear in his bicep, the other tore his tricep somehow. At my age, ass aint worth that! lol

My parents used to own a Gold's way back (80s and early 90s...a very famous pro started his career there too) and it was like the Golds' of old were: open to everyone, but especially attractive to athletes and bodybuilders (the WWF used to be contracted to have their athletes train at a Gold's in whatever town they were in, my parents hosted strongman competitions and bodybuilding shows, lots of guest poses like Lee Labrada, Rich Gaspari, etc.). They sold the gym in 94-95, because even then, people were willing to pay less and less for gym memberships, even though they wanted the same perks. The same location has remained a gym, but it has undergone so many ownership and franchise changes over the years, I lost count. It is now also much smaller, and now that a PF is moving in close by, they're being forced to drop the prices of their memberships to something they probably can't sustain. They're going to squeeze the life out of the bigger, better gyms.

If PF offered me a free membership for life, I still wouldnt train there. They dont offer anything special, so I dont see what the big deal with that place is. What is it? The free pizza? Bagels? lol.. I pay $29/month at powerhouse, and they have everything, offer 10 different kinds of classes(kickboxing,zumba, etc) Only thing they dont have is a daycare, but I dont have kids, so that doesn't concern me..
