Actrapid

I cannot get humalog in my country but can get actrapid.This is also fast acting but my question is: is the onset,peak and clearance time of actrapid the same as humalog? For those of you who have used it(if any) what can you comment about it? Please shed some light as I won't embark on it until I am 100% sure.Thanks

Actrapid is Hum-R, not Humalog. Better anyway.

Big A, so are you saying that actrapid is better than humalog to use?If I want to do slin PWO isn't humalog better and safer regarding onset and clearance time as opposed to humalog?Thanks

Humalog is much more unpredicatble, regardless of what you read on the boards.

HumR will hit you exactly 30 min after the injection and then exactly 2 hours later. You can time your clock by it.

Cool. I always thought humalog was safer.Big A, may I ask one last question? So when using actrapid PWO, do I have to follow the same procedure as that of humalog,that is, train then immediately PWO inject slin IM and drink a protein/carb mix and then 1 hr later have a meal with carbs and protein or should I adjust different for actrapid since it has a 2nd peak two hrs later?Thanks for your help.Much appreciated.

Yes, you have to adjust the times.
You do your workout, do your insulin shot straight after, straight away followed by your drink. That will take care of your first crash.
And then have a meal 2 hours later. After that, you don't have to worry about it, as you won't crash anymore. You can even go to sleep if you wish.
