Well I am actually a very avid scuba diver. As such I the most self absorbed person in the world got into conservation. Having said that almost all shark species are either endangered or at risk. They are the top predator and a vital part of the ecosystem. They have few offspring and fewer survive to adulthood. They can not replenish there species like a fish in a river. Think of it like killing a bear or a tiger not a dear or a rabbitt. Please don't kill sharks for sport.
If you really want to see something amazing go see the shark underwater, if you just want to kill something to show your friends stick to the dear
That is a badass mako!! I LOVE sharks. I look forward to when shark week comes on the discovery channel every year. I love deep sea fishing too, but I don't get to go as often as I like. I went off the cape of NC a couple summers ago with 4 buddies....we went bill fishing, but caught no bill fish. We did catch over 60 mahi though!! It was a blast!!
Agreed. I'm all for fishing, sure. Same for hunting, but like Vespa said, it's like killing a tiger or bear. The larger an animal is, the less it offspring it tends to produce. If you want a thrill or a feeling of power, get into boxing or skydiving or something. Shooting a large animal with a gun or harpooning a shark proves nothing but you know how to pull a trigger.
I like deep water fishing as well. When I was back home I did alot of spear fishing at night inside and just off the reef. My buddy caught a 300lb. marlin and had a stroke while bringing it in, he was medi-vac to hawaii. He is still back home and fishing, catching alot of yellowfin, barracuda and mahi mahi.
I always get home sick when I see the pics......
My girlfriends father is head of the local deep fishing club and is always trying to get me too go......dont think they catch them that big though. I am lucky and live in the middle of the second biggest lough in N.Ireland. So I can go river fishing whenever I like. People come from all over the world to fish here.
A good buddy of mine owns a 26ft fiching boat...he does charter fishing on Lake Ontario...once in a while when he has a day off with no clients...we fill up the boat with gas..fill up the coolers..and go hit the lake...fish for salmon, trout, steel head...here are some pics from the last time out...first pic 8 pound brown trout...2nd pic 35 pound king salmon...3rd pic...6 pound steel head...
