there is a longer name toity but its a condtion where the flar of skin that upen and closes the valve to your heart doesnt fully seal the blood out and some blood spews out between beats.. my doc said its nothing to worry abount andifit got sever dowwn the line it would cause some heart burn...anyone have this???ekgs always come back the same and normal same with bp

hey bro,

i am just a medical student..... i wud suggest dont take this lightly....
some investigations are needed
1.VDRL and TPHA to rule out syphilitic aetiology
2.RA factor ESR and CRP to exclude connective tissue disorder
3. ECG especially for detecting left venticle overload pattern....
you may see especially for ( left ventricle hypertrophy + ST depression and T inversion)
4. Chest x ray.....may show left ventricle hypertrophy
5. coronary angiography....(very important)

treatment is quiet person specific wud be based on your investigation findings
1. treatment for the underlying basic cause....
2. Infective endocarditis prophylaxsis( preventive treatment)
3. rheumatic fever prophylaxis
4. There can be asymtomatic patients(showing no symtems) they may show no left ventricular hypertrophy and systolic function....may no require surgery...but then need to be monitored closely for symtoms like
a) Left venticular dysfunction
b) progressive LV dilatation

you "may" need Afterload reduction therapy with Hydralazine, Isobarbide dinitrate, along with some ACE inhibitors....

or surgical therapy may involve aortic valve replacement....

i wud suggest get after your doc`s ass..... aortic regurgitation is not like a common cold thing that you can just play with it...
it may lead to many complications...........
so i forcefully requst you get after your doc...

When you say "my doc" is this a general practitioner or Cardiologist?

i wud suggest go to a reputed cardiologist....i do understand some docs are so efficient that they can give a right diagnosis... just by a small glimpse at the patient...but then its your heart(so take every possible preventive test)... take care of it...

So if you had an echo it would have been sent by the facility to a cardiologist to dictate and send to your primary.Which didn't raise any flags.

I probably would start a relationship with a cardiologist.
Let him know your lifestyle of bodybuilding etc...DO NOT mention gear!
Educate yourself on this condition as much as you can so you understand it fully and can ask good educated questions.Thats what I would do.

Many are, but you might be surprised how many are not. The cardiologists I have now are open minded and did not go ape shit after my heart atacck when I told them I was taking steroids . None of them object to me doing HRT now.

I would try to feel him out. Hopefully you will get a good idea how he thinks. Some claim that if you state you take steroids that the health insurance companies can deny you claims. I had no trouble whatsoever. My family doc knew for years before my heart attack that I was taking steroids and it was documented. My first hospital stay had a bill of $125,000 and the second one came out to about $140,000. Insurance payed on it all just like they were supposed to even though they knew I was on steroids. I dont think they can legally deny you coverage because of this. That would be like them denying treatment for a cocain addict.

Wondering if this was the valve that Arnold Swarzenegger had replaced.

What year are you in? WOndering what you will go into. If you are able, maybe you could talk to some of your profs about the aortic valve issue and report back.
Hopefully you will continue to contribute to this site after you graduate and finish your residency.

thanks broo.... reallyi know what i want out of this whole bodybuilding thing and i know many peoplesay the pyscological aspect will keep me wanting more gains and to keep on juicing but in the end i want to be 200 at 8percent bf at least once in my life...right now im around 182-3 at that same bf..... i highly doubt that a couple of basic cycles will kill me ..being that everything eles bloodwork wise is spot on pretty much every time.... i will se what the cardiologist has to say and go from there...

The problem is, and I think its this way for most, is that you cant really stop it once you get started. Getting to 200 lbs might be your goal now, but once you get there you are going to want to get to 220 lbs. The other problem is that once you get off and stay off for good, a lot if not all of your gains will go away and you will shrink back down. This is true mostly for guys that have been at if for a long time and have built up over their "genetic limit". I do believe that guys with less years under their belt can actually hold on to a lot more of their gains if they train and eat right after getting off because they still have not exceeded their natural potential. I have no evidence of that, its just my opinion.

Good plan.
Really educate yourself on this before wednesday.

Heres what you do as far as hinting around about gear.
after the cardiologist looks over everything and gives you the o.k. to train with no problems. You ask him would using legal over the counter prohormones exacerbate my condition or be a problem? Most doctors think they are steroids anyway. He may be closed minded and have an opinion formed but ,for many reasons don't mention using or plans of using illegal drugs.
Now as Maldorf said he had no problems, but I can list many reasons why not to this.
In Chiropractic school we took a medical records class and learned about some laws and hippa and all that good stuff.
Now if you ever get the wrong treatment and would have to file a malpractice suit, what do you think the physicians attorneys or hospital will focus on? you are a illegal drug user and turn the whole focus on that.
Also life insurance and I could go on........

Also you mentioned stimulants? ask him if a cup or two of coffee before training could do any harm?

Just be smart and don't incriminate yourself or let the doc get the idea your a person who is doing harm to yourself as their attitude does(it shouldn't but ) change. They feel like they are doing damage control versus helping a nice young man with health issues.

Good luck

bro,
i am in my final sem
i wud have loved to help that guy... but it wont be easy
i wud need his
1. history of present illness
2. past history
3. Family history
4. Drug history

i wud need to do his
1.general examination, psychiatric evaluation, temperature pulse, BP etc etc
inspection
auscultation
palpation
percussion
2. systemic examination
for cardiovascular system, repiratory system , Central nervous system etc
and then we can come down to some conclusive diagnosis....

and yes i all the investigativve findings....

and for that he needs to be present in front of me....lol..

thats the reason for my advise to get after the " cardiologist" ..... and rule out every possibility via lots of investigations...

now a simple aortic regurgitation can occur due to
1. trauma
2. rheumatic fever
3. dissecting aneurysm
or bicuspid arortic valve, atherosclerotic aortic valve,
venticular sptal defects, rheumatoid arthritis , syphilis and many more fucked up conditions...
now whose gonna take care of these fucked up condtions...

and his doc just did his ecg and BP and said u have aortic regurgitation .... but dont worry there is nothing serious.....

just for example its like some person with prostrate cancer comes to you with the complaints .... you get the diagnosis and tell the patient don`t worry.....wow! what a treatment

what about medicinal treatment, prostectomy, chemotherapy and radio therapy.....

then who the hell is going to provide
1.treatment for the underlying cause(single most factor responsible for prostrate issue)

and 2. treatment symtomatic relief

3. prophylaxisis for the further extension of the disease ......

this is how it goes.... man

being a medical student i know what the actual process is , and i am not trying to scare you or something.....all i am trying to tell you "GET AFTER YOUR DOCTORS ASS"............AND READ AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ABBOUT AORTIC REGURGITATION
